The Perfect Lie

"Liar" is a psychological thriller in which a man and a woman deliver totally opposite versions of the same memory, clashing violently in their quest for the truth.

The drama marks the reunion of Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin after their collaboration on "Dr. Romantic". Direction is entrusted to Jo Young-min, acclaimed for his artistic sensibility on "You and Everything Else", who promises here an intense, carefully staged psychological drama.

This psychological thriller revolves around a simple question: What happens when two people remember the same event in completely different ways?

A perfect matchup before their teams face off

Yoo Yeon-seok plays Min Joon-ho, a heart surgeon and single father who is trusted by those around him. In the operating room, he is described as particularly calm and rational. When he is reunited with his only son, his behavior changes completely, revealing a much warmer father.

Seo Hyun-jin stars in Kang Ji-sun, a librarian at an elementary school. It was through her work that she met Joon-ho, who is the father of one of the students.

Things start off particularly well between them, though. The two characters share what is presented as A Perfect Date. But after that evening, the situation takes a radically different turn.

Ji-sun's emotions then swing between extremes as she and Joon-ho offer two conflicting accounts of the same memory. The search for what really happened thus becomes the heart of the thriller.

Ok Ja-yeon, the investigator searching for the truth

Caught between these two conflicting accounts, Lee Hwa-young, played by Ok Ja-yeon, leads the investigation. A lieutenant in the department handling cases involving women and minors at the Sangcheon Police Station, she is described as rational, responsible, and principled.

Her goal: to uncover what lies behind this «perfect first date.» Through her eyes, viewers will also be invited to try to figure out who is lying.

Im Seong-jae plays her husband, Park Seok-gu, an UDT officer. Kim Ji-hyun Kang Ji-eun plays Ji-sun's older sister, an anesthesiologist, while Lee Chun-hee is played by her husband, Kim Hyung-soo, who is therefore also Ji-sun's brother-in-law.
