A graduate of the prestigious Korea National University of Arts, he made his stage debut in the mid-2000s before joining the Chaimu theater troupe, where he developed a restrained yet intense acting style that would become his trademark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After making his film debut in <em>Helpless<\/em> and <em>Hwayi: A Monster Boy<\/em>, he made a name for himself on television with <em>Doctor Stranger<\/em>, <em>Misaeng<\/em> and <em>My Mister<\/em>. Her performance in the independent film <em>4th Place<\/em> earned him his first nominations, before he went on to prove his talent in the thriller <strong>Believer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The breakthrough came in 2020 with <strong>The World of the Married<\/strong>, in which he plays Lee Tae-oh, an unfaithful husband who has become one of the most hated characters on Korean television. This role brought him immense fame. He then went on to <em>The 8 Show<\/em>, the blockbuster movie <strong>12.12: The Day<\/strong> and the <strong>When Life Gives You Tangerines<\/strong>, in which his portrayal of Yang Gwan-sik in his later years earned him the nickname \u00abFather of the Nation.\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2025, he went on to play leading roles in <strong>Love, Take Two<\/strong> and the spy series <strong>Tempest<\/strong>, while making an appearance in <em>Aema<\/em>.
