{"id":9386,"date":"2026-07-08T11:37:54","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T09:37:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kdramakopi.com\/?p=9386"},"modified":"2026-07-08T11:37:54","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T09:37:54","slug":"kim-soo-hyun-case-court-recommends-advertiser-withdraw-its-25-billion-won-claim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kdramakopi.com\/en\/affaire-kim-soo-hyun-le-tribunal-recommande-a-un-annonceur-dabandonner-sa-demande-de-25-milliards-de-wons\/","title":{"rendered":"Kim Soo-hyun Case: Court Recommends Advertiser Withdraw Its Claim for 2.5 Billion Won"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few weeks after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kdramakopi.com\/en\/kim-soo-hyun-case-prosecutors-discover-signs-of-editing-in-the-recording-attributed-to-kim-sae-ron\/\">New Developments in the Case Between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Se-ui<\/a>, founder of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute, a new development has emerged regarding the legal actions taken by certain advertisers against the actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to information revealed by Star News, the outdoor brand Eider, which had filed a civil lawsuit against Kim Soo-hyun and his agency Gold Medalist, significantly reduced its claim for damages during the second hearing held on July 8 at the Seoul Central District Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This development comes after Kim Se-ui was charged and taken into custody, facing charges that include the alleged dissemination of false information about the actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kdramakopi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/kim-soo-hyun-trial-scaled.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9387\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The demand has dropped from 2.5 billion to 400 million won<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eider had initially sought approximately 2.5 billion won (about 1.5 million euros) from Kim Soo-hyun and his agency. The brand believed its image had been damaged following allegations made public in 2025 regarding an alleged relationship between Kim Soo-hyun and the late actress Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, at the most recent hearing on July 8, 2026, the company amended its claim. It withdrew its claim based on damage to its reputation stemming from a public controversy and reduced the amount sought to approximately 400 million won (approximately 250,000 euros).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new request concerns only the reimbursement of the remaining portion of the costs associated with the advertising contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>However, the court expressed reservations about this new position.<\/strong> According to Star News, the judges ruled that while the initial claim for damages seemed difficult to uphold legally, the new claim should also be examined with caution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court then proposed another solution: <strong>that the brand withdraw its claim<\/strong> and that each party bear its own legal costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The court refers to victims in the same situation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another important aspect of this hearing concerns the way the court analyzed the overall context of the case. According to the Korean media outlet, the court found that Eider, Kim Soo-hyun, and her agency had all suffered consequences related to the allegations initially made by Kim Se-ui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The judges therefore recommended that the parties explore ways to resolve the dispute, particularly by taking into account the discussions currently underway between Kim Soo-hyun and other advertisers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This decision is likely to be closely watched from now on, as several other brands that had worked with the actor had also filed civil lawsuits. According to Korean media reports, the combined claims are said to exceed 10 billion won.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Kim Se-ui Case Is Still Ongoing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a reminder, starting in March 2025, Kim Se-ui had posted several pieces of content accusing Kim Soo-hyun of having had a relationship with Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor and of bearing responsibility for the events leading up to her death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In particular, he had presented an audio recording attributed to the actress, as well as KakaoTalk conversations allegedly involving Kim Soo-hyun. However, authorities later concluded that some of the evidence presented had been fabricated. According to the investigation\u2019s findings cited by Korean media, the voice recording was reportedly generated using artificial intelligence, while the KakaoTalk conversations were allegedly altered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kim Se-ui was taken into custody and charged last month. He is facing several charges, including defamation by spreading false information via a computer network, violation of the anti-harassment law, threats, and attempted coercion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following his arrest, the Gold Medalist agency thanked those who had waited for the results of the investigation and helped publicize the findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next hearing in the case pitting Eider against Kim Soo-hyun and his agency is scheduled for August
