Avant de devenir une star internationale, il d\u00e9bute comme mannequin dans les ann\u00e9es 1990 avant de se lancer dans la com\u00e9die avec le drama <em>Dinosaur Teacher<\/em> (1993) et le film <em>The Young Man<\/em> (1994), qui lui vaut rapidement plusieurs prix de r\u00e9v\u00e9lation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apr\u00e8s s\u2019\u00eatre impos\u00e9 avec <em>Sandglass<\/em> (1995), il confirme son talent au cin\u00e9ma gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des \u0153uvres marquantes comme <em>An Affair<\/em> (1998), <em>City of the Rising Sun<\/em> (1998) ou encore le film romantique culte <em>Il Mare<\/em> (2000).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dans les ann\u00e9es 2010, Lee Jung-jae conna\u00eet une seconde ascension avec plusieurs grands succ\u00e8s du cin\u00e9ma cor\u00e9en : <em>The Housemaid<\/em> (2010), <em>The Thieves<\/em> (2012), <em>New World<\/em> (2013), <em>The Face Reader<\/em> (2013), <em>Assassination<\/em> (2015) ou encore la saga fantastique <em>Along With the Gods<\/em> (2017-2018). En 2022, il passe \u00e9galement derri\u00e8re la cam\u00e9ra avec <em>Hunt<\/em>, son premier film comme r\u00e9alisateur et sc\u00e9nariste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sa carri\u00e8re prend une dimension mondiale en 2021 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 Netflix et au ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne <em>Squid Game<\/em>. Son interpr\u00e9tation de Seong Gi-hun (joueur 456) lui apporte une reconnaissance historique : il devient le premier acteur asiatique \u00e0 remporter l\u2019Emmy Award du meilleur acteur dans une s\u00e9rie dramatique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il reprend ce r\u00f4le embl\u00e9matique dans <em>Squid Game 2<\/em> (2024) puis <em>Squid Game 3<\/em> (2025).
