With just a few weeks to go before its premiere, « Four Hands, Two Sonatas »continues to reveal the connections between its characters. tvN has posted two new teasers dedicated to Kang Bi-oh (Song Kang) and Choi Jung-yo (Lee Jun-young), revealing a relationship that seems destined to transform both their lives and their music.
Amid past wounds, unfulfilled dreams, and a shared passion for the piano, the two young men seem to be a true source of support for one another.
Kang Bi-oh Rediscovers the Joy of Playing
The first teaser spotlights Kang Bi-oh, a young piano prodigy trapped by the expectations of those around him. Despite the awards he accumulates (he is notably praised after winning a prestigious student prize), he never receives the recognition he hopes for from his family. His grandfather remains distant and coldly tells him, «I don’t have time to spend with you.»
Convinced that only success can make his mother happy, Kang Bi-oh gives voice to his anguish: «If I don’t become the best in the world, how can I make my mother happy—a mother who will never be happy otherwise? How?»
His life takes a turn when he runs into Choi Jung-yo, whom he had met years earlier at a piano competition. Upon recognizing him, Choi asks with a smile, «Do you remember me?» before adding, «I’m going to show you how to have fun playing the piano.» « Thanks to this encounter, Kang Bi-oh gradually rediscovers the joy of playing and confides emotionally, »I’d like to find a way to be happy through music.”
An encounter that also changes Choi Jung-yo
The second teaser focuses on Choi Jung-yo, whose journey seems just as difficult.
From the very first scenes, the young man asks himself bitterly, «How can anyone make a living playing the piano?» Another voice then replies, «To me, you’re clearly a genius. Are you really going to let your talent go to waste?»—revealing the doubts that plague him despite his immense potential.
Choi Jung-yo then reveals that, ever since what happened to his mother, he has come to hate the piano. But his encounter with Kang Bi-oh gradually rekindles his passion. Kang Bi-oh gently encourages him: «Don’t think about anything. Just focus on the sound of my piano.»
As their reunion unfolds, the two young men grow closer and find true comfort in music. Touched by Kang Bi-oh’s thoughtfulness, Choi Jung-yo asks him with a smile, «Why do you take such good care of me? You make my heart race. » Then, as they play together, he adds, «Keep this performance etched in your memory.»
These new teasers hint at a deep connection between the two characters, at the heart of a story in which friendship, music, and emotions are expected to play a central role.
«Four Hands, Two Sonatas» will air starting August 29 on tvN and will be available worldwide on Netflix.
