A few weeks before its release, « Spooky in Love »continues to reveal the relationships that will bind its main characters together after having unveiled a teaser.
Following the first teasers featuring Cheon Yeo-ri and the images of the characters’ reunion, tvN has released a new series of posters highlighting the trio of Park Eun-bin, Yang Se-jong, and Ong Seong-wu. These posters offer a glimpse into the dynamics that will develop between the characters and confirm that a love triangle will play a significant role in the story.
A heroine doomed to keep her distance
Park Eun-bin plays Cheon Yeo-ri, the heiress to a prestigious hotel chain who can see ghosts.
As previous teasers had already hinted, her power has another particularly disturbing consequence: anyone who touches her hand also begins to see spirits.
The poster of Cheon Yeo-ri shows her trying to prevent someone from touching her with her gloves, which have become a real shield against the outside world. Her line perfectly sums up her isolation: «Are you really sure you can handle holding my hand?»
This fear of contact explains why the young woman has always kept others at a distance, despite her loneliness.
Two men, two ways to reach out to her
Standing opposite her, Ma Gang-wook, played by Yang Se-jong, seems ready to face this danger.
The prosecutor, known for his sense of justice but also for his fear of ghosts, nevertheless resolutely takes Cheon Yeo-ri’s hand. He replies, «If that’s your hand, then I suppose I’ll try holding it one more time.»
This scene perfectly illustrates the development we’ve already seen in the previous teasers, where Ma Gang-wook gradually grew closer to Yeo-ri despite his fears.
In contrast, Kang Min-hwan, played by Ong Seong-wu, takes a much more possessive approach. The heir to the hotel group confidently pulls Cheon Yeo-ri’s hand toward him, revealing his ambitious personality and his desire to control everything.
In fact, his statement leaves little room for doubt: «I’m not satisfied until I get what I want.»
A love triangle that promises to be explosive
These new posters thus confirm the romantic tensions that lie ahead for the characters.
On one hand, Ma Gang-wook seems ready to face his fears in order to get closer to Cheon Yeo-ri. On the other hand, Kang Min-hwan comes across as a determined rival, willing to do anything to achieve his goals. This love triangle could become one of the central elements of «Spooky in Love,» alongside the supernatural investigations, ghosts, and secrets surrounding the characters.
A remake of the film «Spellbound,» the drama will tell the story of a woman who can see spirits and a prosecutor who is terrified of the supernatural.
«Spooky in Love» will premiere on July 18 on tvN and will also be available on Netflix.
