Uhm Jung-hwa (엄정화) is a South Korean singer, actress, and model born on August 17, 1969, in Jecheon. A leading figure in the Korean entertainment industry, she has pursued a career spanning music, film, and TV dramas since the 1990s.
She began her film career in the early 1990s, then released her first album in 1993, Sorrowful Secret. Over the years, she has established herself as one of the most influential female artists in the South Korean pop scene, with several hit albums and a strong presence in popular culture.
As an actress, Uhm Jung-hwa has appeared in numerous films such as Marriage Is a Crazy Thing, Singles, Princess Aurora, Haeundae, Wonderful Nightmare or even Okay! Ma'am. At the same time, she has built a successful career in television with Wife, Get Karl! Oh Soo Jung, The Man Who Can't Get Married and Witch’s Romance.
In 2022, she plays Go Mi-ran in Our Blues. The following year, she enjoyed another major success with Doctor Cha, in which she plays Cha Jeong-suk. She will continue in 2025 with My Troublesome Star and also makes an appearance in Waiting for Gyeong Do.
Uhm Jung-hwa continues to be active with Okay! Madam 2 in 2026 and is set to reprise her role as Cha Jeong-suk in Doctor Cha Season 2, scheduled for 2027. It thus remains a an iconic figure in South Korean entertainment, with a career spanning several decades.
