He failed on his first try, but he didn't give up. Park Bo-gum earned the national certification as a hairdressing technician, an exam known for being difficult. This success comes at just the right time: the second season of « The Village Barber » («The Village Barber» on Viki), the show in which he runs a barbershop in a remote village, has just released its first teaser.
A degree earned on the second try
During the first season, which aired earlier this year, Park Bo-gum tried to earn this certification… but was unsuccessful. Far from being discouraged, the actor continued to practice while preparing for Season 2, and eventually passed the exam on his second attempt.
This is no small feat: the average pass rate hovers between 20 and 30 %. This new certification complements the barber’s license he had already earned during his military service. Suffice it to say, the clients at his salon are in good hands.
Heading for the Sea
After setting up its first salon in the rural village of Muju, the team is changing locations. The first teaser shows Park Bo-gum in front of his new salon, which is now located in a small seaside village. Filming took place in Tongyeong, in South Gyeongsang Province.
The teaser promises «a place where magic happens.» The basic concept remains the same: running a real little hair salon, serving the locals, and building relationships with them through their stories and daily lives.
A new team… and a special guest
Park Bo-gum Reunites with His Friend Lee Sang-yi, who has been with the show since the first season. Kwak Dong-yeon, on the other hand, will not be part of the adventure because of his military service. It is Ko Kyung-pyo who replaces him.
A choice that puts friendship at the heart of this season: Park Bo-gum and Ko Kyung-pyo have known each other for over ten years and starred together in «Naeil’s Cantabile» and, most notably, in « Reply 1988 », the cult classic series that introduced the actor to the general public.
Another surprise: BLACKPINK's Jisoo appeared on the show as a special guest. She came to lend a hand to the trio during her stay in Tongyeong.
The release date for «The Village Barber 2» has not yet been announced (though November 2026 has been mentioned for the past few weeks). In the meantime, the first season is available on Viki.
