Following the success of the first season, Park Bo-gum takes over her rural hair salon for a new adventure in The Village Barber Season 2. He reunites with his friend Lee Sang-yi, while Go Kyung-pyo This time, he joins the main cast in place of Kwak Dong-yeon, who is absent from Season 2 due to his military service.

Park Bo-gum and Go Kyung-pyo have known each other for over ten years and have appeared together in, among other projects, Naeil’s Cantabile and Reply 1988, which places their friendship at the heart of this new dynamic. After setting up its first studio in the rural village of Muju, the team changes locations for this second season: filming took place in Tongyeong, in South Gyeongsang Province.

The concept remains the same as the one that made the show so charming: running a real small hair salon, serving the local residents, and building connections with them through their stories and daily lives. Jisoo of BLACKPINK She also took part in the filming as a special guest and will be lending a hand to Park Bo-gum, Lee Sang-yi, and Ko Kyung-pyo during their stay in Tongyeong.

Ahn Eun-jin is a longtime friend of Lee Sang-yi: the two actors were in the same class at the Korea National University of Arts. It’s a nice way to return the favor, since Lee Sang-yi is actually a surprise appearance in «A Love Other Than Yours», the series by Ahn Eun-jin.

Heo Sung-tae He, for his part, starred alongside Park Bo-gum in « Good Boy ». Fans will also see him again starting November 16 in «Crash 2,» where he reprises his role as the leader of the T.C.I. team.".

Uhm Ji-won, an established actress, will also star in « The Substitute », the TVING thriller set to premiere on November 23.

As for Jisoo, an actress and member of Blackpink; her involvement had already been reported by the Korean media in September. The teaser officially confirms it.

Filming was scheduled to begin in late August, and scenes have since been shot in Tongyeong; on September 10, the Korean press reported that Jisoo had already finished filming her appearance as a special guest.

Season 1 Success

The renewal comes after the first season, which aired from January 30 through April 3, 2026 starring Park Bo-gum, Lee Sang-yi, and Kwak Dong-yeon.

According to data released about the show, it ranked No. 1 in its time slot for seven consecutive weeks among viewers aged 20–49, across all networks, and for six consecutive weeks among households on cable and broadcast networks. It also remained in the Top 10 of the most popular non-drama shows, as ranked by FUNdex, for nine consecutive weeks.

This positive reception explains why the show was renewed so quickly—with Season 2 arriving just a few months after the first season ended. Ko Kyung-pyo’s arrival also brings his long-standing friendship with Park Bo-gum back to the screen, while the participation of Jisoo is currently the first big name announced among the guests for this new season.
