After releasing the first photos of Seo Kang-jun and Ahn Eun-jin in « A Love Other Than Yours », KBS2 takes us behind the scenes of the drama this time with photos and a video from the first script reading.
Expected starting on September 12, this new realistic romance will focus on a couple who have been together for 10 years and find themselves at a turning point in their relationship.
Caught between the security of a love that has grown over a decade, the gradual fading of passion, and the emergence of new emotions, the two characters will have to ask themselves whether they really want to get married… or whether it’s finally time to part ways.
Seo Kang-jun and Ahn Eun-jin, a couple who have been together for 10 years
Seo Kang-jun interpreter Namgoong Ho, assistant manager on the TF 3 team at Hunmin Confectionery. Warm, sociable, and optimistic, he has spent the last 10 years of his life with his girlfriend, Lee Mi-do, with whom he naturally envisioned building a future.
During the reading, Seo Kang-jun particularly highlighted this affectionate side of the character, as well as the initial inner turmoil of a man who is gradually beginning to waver between the feelings he still harbors and the trust he has built up over the years.
Facing him, Ahn Eun-jin embodies Lee Mi-do, a filmmaker who, too, had long believed that her relationship with Namgoong Ho would naturally lead to marriage. But faced with the difficulties of reality and new emotions she hadn’t anticipated, her convictions begin to waver.
Even from this first reading, the two actors seemed to have captured particularly well the intimacy characteristic of a couple who have been together for a decade: two people who sometimes know each other better than their own parents and who have already weathered the most difficult periods of their lives together.
Two new encounters that could turn everything upside down
But their well-established daily routine is about to be disrupted by the arrival of two characters.
Lee Joo-ahn plays Han Tae-seung, a lawyer working for the production company behind Lee Mi-do’s film. Their initial relationship is far from romantic, as he is the one who bluntly informs her that she has been fired. However, even as he exerts cold pressure on her, his behavior gradually begins to change as he finds himself increasingly drawn to Lee Mi-do.
Meanwhile, Park Soo-ah, played by Jo Aram, will enter Namgoong Ho’s daily life. This young colleague at Hunmin Confectionery initially comes across as particularly cold, but behind that facade lies a much warmer personality.
These two encounters could therefore stir up unexpected feelings in Namgoong Ho and Lee Mi-do, just as their 10-year relationship is already going through a period of uncertainty.
A romance set against the backdrop of family and office life
The first reading also provided an opportunity to get to know the supporting cast better.
Kim Mi-kyung will play Ma Sook-hee, Lee Mi-do's mother, while Kim Nam-hee and Lee Min-jae will play her older brother and younger brother, respectively.
The drama will also focus heavily on the characters' daily work lives.
Lee Joon-hyuk will notably portray Um Ho-sik, Namgoong Ho's boss, and will be part of this more realistic aspect of office life.
The production team was particularly pleased with this first casting meeting:
«From the very first rehearsal, all the actors in *A Love Other Than Yours* naturally slipped into their roles, truly bringing to life the realistic romance we want to tell.“
She adds that viewers will be able to experience, among other things, «the familiarity and excitement of a couple who have been together for ten years, the warmth of a family, and realistic relationships among coworkers.».
Now it remains to be seen whether the bond forged over ten years together will be strong enough to help Namgoong Ho and Lee Mi-do weather the changes that lie ahead.
«A Love Other Than Yours» will premiere on September 12 at 9:20 p.m. on KBS2.
