Cheon Woo-hee (천우희; 千玗嬉) is a South Korean actress born on April 20, 1987, in Icheon. A graduate of Kyonggi University with a degree in theater, she made her film debut in 2004 with a small role in Love, So Divine. For several years, she made a number of low-key appearances, notably in Mother by Bong Joon-ho and Sunny, before experiencing a spectacular rise.
Her career took a turn in 2013 when she played the title role in the drama Han Gong-ju (A Cappella), inspired by a real-life news story. Her performance, which was unanimously praised by critics, earned her numerous awards, including the prestigious Best Actress Award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards. She then went on to demonstrate her immense talent in The Wailing, in which she plays the mysterious Moo-myeong, and then in the films One Day, Anchor and Unlocked.
On television, Cheon Woo-hee has won over audiences with her portrayal of screenwriter Im Jin-joo in Be Melodramatic (2019), which has become a cult classic. She follows that up with the thriller Delightfully Deceitful (Beneficial Fraud), the fantasy romance The Atypical Family and social satire The 8 Show, both of which aired in 2024 and were widely acclaimed.
In 2025, she co-stars with My Youth, in which she plays Seong Je-yeon, returning to a more intimate and emotional style of acting. Known for her subtle performances and her ability to bring complex characters to life, she moves effortlessly between arthouse films, mainstream productions, and television series.
