Esom (Lee Som), whose real name is Lee So-young (Lee So-young), was born on January 30, 1990, in Seoul, and is a South Korean actress and model. She began her career as a model before gradually establishing herself as an actress, both in film and on television.
She attracted particular attention in 2014 thanks to the movie Scarlet Innocence, in which she plays Deok-yi. This performance earned her several nominations in the Best New Actress category. She continued her film career with Warriors of the Dawn, My Little Brother then Microhabitat in 2018, when her portrayal of Mi-so earned her several awards and nominations.
On television, Esom has played notable leading roles in Because This Is My First Life in 2017, The Third Charm in 2018 and Save Me 2 in 2019. In 2021, she played the role of prosecutor Kang Ha-na in Taxi Driver, a role that earned him an award for excellence at the SBS Drama Awards.
His film career continues in parallel with Inseparable Bros and above all Samjin Company English Class, for which she won the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2023, she appeared in several films, including Phantom, Kill Boksoon, Dr. Cheon and the Lost Talisman and Single in Seoul. That same year, she played Major Seol-ah in the series Black Knight.
In 2024, she plays the lead role of Woo-jin in LTNS and makes a cameo appearance in the movie Escape. She also briefly reprises her role as Cha Min-hee in Mantis in 2025.
In 2026, Esom plays Han Na-hyeon in The Phantom Lawyer (Phantom Lawyer), and appears in the movie Investigative Trip in the role of Prosecutor Kang Mi-joo. She is also cast as Kwon So-hyeon in the film Andong, scheduled for 2027. Among its other announced projects are Starlight Falls, in which she plays Lee Hyun-jeong, as well as Reborn, in which she is set to play the lead role of Rose Miller.
