Jang Hyuk (Jang Hyuk), born on December 20, 1976, in Busan, is a South Korean actor. He grew up mostly in his hometown and made his television debut in 1997 in the drama Model.
He rose to fame in the early 2000s thanks to the fantasy action film Volcano High (2001), and then cemented its popularity with Jungle Juice and especially the series The Success Story of a Bright Girl (2002). His fame has spread internationally with Windstruck (2004), a hit romance in which he co-stars with Jun Ji-hyun. After completing his military service, he made a highly publicized return in the drama Thank You (2007).
In 2010, he took on one of the most iconic roles of his career in Chuno (The Slave Hunters), in which he plays the slave hunter Lee Dae-gil. He goes on to star in Midas and Tree With Deep Roots (2011), IRIS 2 (2013), and then reunited with Jang Na-ra in the romantic comedy Fated to Love You (2014).
He continues by saying A Beautiful Mind (2016), the thriller Voice and Money Flower (2017), Wok of Love and Bad Dad (2018), and then played Yi Bang-won in My Country: The New Age (2019). In 2020, he played the role of Oh Hyun-jae in Tell Me What You Saw, before playing Park Gye-won in the historical drama Bloody Heart (Red Heart) (2022) and Kwon Do-hoon in Family: The Unbreakable Bond (2023). In 2026, it is announced in King Munmu the Great, in which he plays General Yeon Gaesomun.
On the big screen, Jang Hyuk has notably distinguished himself in The Flu (2013), The Swordsman (2020), Tomb of the River (2021) and The Killer: A Girl Who Deserves to Die (2022), confirming his affinity for physical roles and action-packed productions.
