Twenty-three years after playing a couple on screen, Kim Hee-sun and Go Soo may soon be reunited. According to an exclusive report by the Korean media outlet OSEN, the two actors are being considered for the lead roles in «The Wife» (literal title), a new MBC drama. They would play a married couple in a much darker tone than the romantic comedy that first brought them together in 2003.
A positive response… from only one side
Following the news, Kim Hee-sun’s agency, Hinge Entertainment, stated that the actress was giving the proposal serious consideration. The agency of Go Soo, for its part, has not yet responded.
If both actors agree, this will be their first collaboration since «My Fair Lady» («요조숙녀»), which aired on SBS and ended in 2003, in which they also played a couple.

A project that has come a long way
«The Wife» had a tumultuous journey before airing on MBC. Written by Jung Ryeo-ju, the script won an award in 2022 at the KBS miniseries screenplay contest.
The drama was then scheduled to be produced for KBS2 in 2023, but the project was canceled. It was subsequently picked up by SBS, but that didn't pan out either. Three years later, MBC is finally reviving the project, with a planned premiere in June 2027.
Production has been entrusted to Samhwa Networks, the company behind the medical drama series «Dr. Romantic.».
Two Highly Anticipated Comebacks
For Kim Hee-sun, this project would mark her return to MBC, two years after «Bitter Sweet Hell.» The actress most recently starred in « No Next Life » on TV Chosun.
Go Soo, for his part, has just begun a new chapter in his career. After 15 years with BH Entertainment, he recently left the agency. He also made a lasting impression this year with a special appearance in the film «Colony.».
Now we just have to wait for Go Soo's response to find out if this reunion will actually happen.
