At the heart of the story of «The Remarried Empress» (translated into French as «L’impératrice remariée») lies Navier, The irreproachable empress of the Eastern Empire, cast aside overnight by the man she thought she knew better than anyone else: her husband, Emperor Sovieshu. Yet her sudden downfall becomes the starting point for an unexpected rebirth.

Edit August 26, 2026: The drama’s first teaser and four posters featuring the main characters have been unveiled, along with the premiere date: November 4, 2026. Four episodes will be available on the first day, followed by two episodes every Wednesday through November 25, when the drama will conclude.

Shin Min-ah plays Navier, respected for her intelligence and natural elegance. Her life is turned upside down when Sovieshu, her childhood friend turned emperor, tells her of a breakup she never imagined. Devastated but determined, she raises her head and "asks Prince Heinrey", ruler of the neighboring kingdom, to remarry her.

Ju Ji-hoon lends his features to Sovieshu, all-powerful emperor who had grown up alongside Navier. Despite promising "never to take a concubine", he betrays his commitment and demands a divorce, upsetting the balance they had built up.

Lee Jong-suk plays Heinrey, prince of the Western Empire, shrouded in rumors and the bearer of an as yet unknown secret. While he approaches Navier with hidden intentions, he gradually finds himself caught up in his own game, falling genuinely in love with her.

Lee Se-young plays Rashta, a former slave with exceptional beauty. Saved during a hunting trip by Sovieshu, she discovers that her benefactor is the emperor himself. An encounter that opens the door to ambitions she would never have dared imagine.

Lee Se-young plays a runaway slave who has nothing to her name when she suddenly enters the imperial palace. After winning Sovieshu's heart, she discovers, practically overnight, a life she never would have imagined she could lead.

«I agree to this divorce...»

The phrase on the poster echoes Navier’s now-iconic statement: «I accept this divorce. And I request permission to remarry.»

Rather than falling apart after her husband’s betrayal, Navier chose to take control of her life and write her own destiny. She would later marry Heinrey (Lee Jong-suk), the prince of the Western Empire, sparking a romance that has captivated millions of readers.

Thanks to his natural elegance and charisma, Shin Min-a is expected to portray a Navier who is as dignified as she is determined—a role that fans of the original work are particularly looking forward to.

Navier Refuses to Lose His Dignity

The new images first and foremost offer a closer look at the various looks designed for Navier. Exquisitely crafted dresses, jewelry, and a variety of hairstyles accompany Shin Min-ah as she transforms into the empress of the Eastern Empire. But these costumes also serve to highlight different facets of the character.

When she has to take charge, Navier maintains a commanding presence and a confident demeanor. Even when her personal life is turned upside down, she continues to fulfill her responsibilities and protect her position.

Behind this apparent composure, however, lies a pain that the new photos gradually reveal. Her expression remains reserved, but some images show a woman who is much more vulnerable when confronted with the consequences of Sovieshu’s decision.

Shin Min-ah describes this duality herself: «Even though Sovieshu’s request for a divorce hurts her, she doesn’t lose her grace. She is a very warm and ambitious empress.»

Shin Min-ah brought a new dimension to Navier

This combination of apparent coldness and restrained emotions seems to have been particularly important in the character's development.

Director Jo Soo-won explains that Navier was the first character in this story who truly captivated him. In particular, he wanted to portray, in a charming way, a woman who, after everything she goes through, decides to take a new direction.

As for Shin Min-ah, he believes she embodies the desired contrast particularly well: «She was the perfect match for Navier’s cold gaze amid his warm emotions.»

Screenwriter Yeo Ji-na, for her part, believes that the character took on greater depth once Shin Min-ah took on the role.

These new images follow a previous preview that already hinted at the turning point awaiting Navier: Sovieshu publicly choosing Rashta while Heinrey reaches out to the empress. This time, the drama focuses less on the men around her and more on how Navier will maintain her authority and dignity as her marriage falls apart.
