Lee Se-young (이세영) is a South Korean actress born on December 20, 1992. She began her career at a very young age, in 1997, and quickly became a familiar face to Korean audiences as a child actress. She has appeared notably in Jewel in the Palace, The Brothers’ River, When I Turned Nine or even Lovely Rivals.
As an adult, she pursued a steady career in television. She particularly stood out in The Gentlemen of the Wolgyesu Tailor Shop in 2016, in which she played Min Hyo-won. This role greatly boosted her popularity and earned her, among other honors, the award for Best New Actress as well as an award for Best On-Screen Couple with Hyun Woo.
She then continues with Hit the Top and A Korean Odyssey in 2017, and went on to land several major leading roles. In 2019, she played Queen Yoo So-woon in The Crowned Clown, and then Kang Shi-young in the medical drama Doctor John. The following year, she played the lead roles in Memorist and Kairos.
In 2021, Lee Se-young enjoyed one of the biggest successes of her career with the historical drama The Red Sleeve. In the series, she plays Seong Deok-im, the future royal concubine Ui-bin Seong, alongside Lee Jun-ho. Her performance earned her the Best Actress award at the MBC Drama Awards, as well as the Best Couple award.
She's continuing in 2022 with a legal romance The Law Cafe, and then plays Park Yeon-woo in The Story of Park's Marriage Contract in 2023. In 2024, she plays Choi Hong in What Comes After Love, before playing the role of Ji Gang-hui in Motel California in 2025.
In 2026, she joined the fantasy series The Remarried Empress, in which she plays Rashta Isqua. She is also set to appear in two new projects: Long Vacation, playing the role of Lee Deul-pan, and Gongju, Let's Go to Seonbireul, in which she plays Princess Eun-myeong.
After spending much of her career at Prain TPC, Lee Se-young signed with Fantagio in September 2025. Thanks to a career that began in childhood and her ability to excel in romance, thrillers, comedy, and historical dramas, she has established herself as one of the most accomplished actresses of her generation.
