" The Remarried Empress »is finally revealed. On August 26, Disney+ released the first trailer for its highly anticipated adaptation, starring Shin Min-ah, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk and Lee Se-young. Amid romance, betrayal, and imperial intrigue, the teaser also announces the drama's release date: November 4, 2026.
Adapted from the famous web novel The Remarried Empress, the drama takes us to a fictional empire where Empress Navier’s life is about to be turned upside down by her husband’s decision.
Performed by Shin Min-ah, Navier is the empress of the Eastern Kingdom. Sovieshu reigns alongside her (Ju Ji-hoon), her husband and emperor, who assures her at the beginning of the trailer: «No matter what happens, you are and will always be my one and only wife.» A promise that, however, soon came crashing down.
Navier and Sovieshu's marriage is falling apart
The arrival of Rashta (Lee Se-young), a runaway slave, upsets the balance of the imperial couple’s relationship. Sovieshu gradually grows closer to her, while Navier witnesses the birth of this new relationship.
The teaser thus highlights the contrast between the couple’s early moments of romance and the distance that gradually grows between them. Faced with a situation she never imagined she would experience, Navier nevertheless maintains her composure and dignity. And as her marriage falls apart, another man enters the picture.
This is Heinrey, played by Lee Jong-suk, a prince from the Western Kingdom who is portrayed as a seducer. His encounter with Navier then paves the way for a whole new relationship.
«I agree to this divorce»
The climactic moment of this first trailer comes when Sovieshu officially files for divorce. But far from begging her husband to reconsider his decision, Navier simply replies, « »I agree to this divorce."
The real surprise comes next. Navier doesn’t just plan to leave Sovieshu—she also wants to remarry. The individual posters unveiled alongside the teaser perfectly summarize the four characters’ positions. While Sovieshu announces that he must divorce the empress, Heinrey is already addressing Navier as «his queen».
Navier, for her part, makes a request that is set to kick off one of the drama’s main storylines: «I am requesting permission to remarry.»
A highly anticipated cast
This first trailer, above all, finally gives us a chance to see the four stars in their roles.
Shin Min-ah portrays Navier as dignified and impassive despite the betrayal she suffers, while Ju Ji-hoon plays the role of Sovieshu, torn between his wife and Rashta. Lee Se-young appears, for her part, in the role of the woman who turns the imperial court upside down, while Lee Jong-suk Prince Heinrey is in camp.
The Remarried Empress It also differs from traditional Korean historical dramas. The story is not set during the Joseon Dynasty or in any actual period of Korean history, but in a fictional imperial universe with Western and fantasy influences directly drawn from the original work.
The result therefore promises a mix of romance, betrayal, political rivalries, and power struggles, with Navier's divorce serving as the starting point for a much broader story.
"The Remarried Empress" will be available starting November 4, 2026, on Disney+ (it has not been announced whether the series will be released in installments over several weeks, as the platform traditionally does).
