Born on June 5, 1999, in South Korea, Choo Young-woo is one of the most promising rising stars of the new generation of Korean actors. With his natural charisma, expressive eyes, and ability to transition from romance to intense drama, he has quickly established himself as a rising star in the world of K-dramas.
Coming from a family with ties to the arts, he is the son of former models Choo Seung-il and Kang Sung-jin, and his younger brother, Cha Jung-woo, is also an actor. Passionate about the stage, Choo Young-woo studied acting at the prestigious theater department of the Korea National University of Arts before officially launching his career.
Her K-dramas
He made his debut in 2021 with the web drama You Make Me Dance, before appearing in Police University and School 2021. Her charm and screen presence quickly caught the public's attention.
In 2022, he landed his first leading role in the romance Once Upon a Small Town, where his portrayal of veterinarian Han Ji-yul has won over K-drama fans. He then confirmed his potential with Oasis In 2023, his performance earned him the Best New Actor award at the KBS Drama Awards.
But it is with The Tale of Lady Ok (2024–2025) marked a new milestone for Choo Young-woo. His acclaimed performance earned him the Best New Actor award at the 2025 Baeksang Arts Awards, one of Korea’s most prestigious awards.
That same year, he made a strong impression in the Netflix medical drama The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, which won an award at the Blue Dragon Series Awards, and then explores a darker tone in Mercy for None. He continues his rise with Head Over Heels and is already preparing for the future with Love Doctor scheduled for 2026.
