Yim Si-wan and Seol In-ah will now be airing for viewers in October. " Love in Disguise » has just announced its air date and shared photos from the script reading, where the two actors were joined by Kim Jung-hyun and Yeonwoo, among others.
Based on the web novel and webtoon «Why Don’t You Know She’s a Woman?» (literal title), this new tvN drama will blend romance, comedy, and thriller centered on a murder investigation and an undercover operation that is obviously likely to become much more personal than expected.
Seol In-ah Sneaks Into Yim Si-wan's Life
Yim Si-wan plays Yoon Yi-jun, a third-generation heir destined to one day take the helm of the Taegang Group, one of the country's most powerful conglomerates.
Arrogant and particularly sensitive beneath his apparent coldness, Yi-jun deliberately keeps his distance from the world around him. But his life is turned upside down when he finds himself suspected in a murder case.
That's when Kang Jae-hee, played by Seol In-ah, enters the picture. A former member of the special forces, she is investigating Yi-jun and, to that end, pretend to be a man in order to become his personal secretary.
While reading the script, Yim Si-wan reportedly used subtle variations in tone to bring out the different facets of his character, ranging from sensitivity to coldness. Seol In-ah, for her part, relied on a much livelier energy, highlighting Jae-hee’s strength and boldness.
This conflict should fuel their dynamic, as the investigator must stay close enough to her suspect to uncover the truth without revealing her true identity.
Kim Jung-hyun and Yeonwoo round out this web of secrets
Reading photos also let you discover Kim Jung-hyun as Kim Si-hyun. A close friend of Yoon Yi-jun, he works as a lawyer on the Taegang Group’s legal team.
While he watches over his friend closely, the character also retains an air of mystery. Kim Jung-hyun thus highlighted his serious demeanor during the reading, while leaving viewers wondering what he might be hiding.
Yeonwoo Lee Hye-jung, on the other hand, plays the secretary to the president of Taegang Group. Calm and completely composed while she works, she is said to transform completely once her day is over—a duality that should contribute to the series’ more comedic tone.
The production placed particular emphasis on the unexpected relationships that will develop between these characters: «The unexpected relationships between unique characters—ranging from a third-generation chaebol to a female investigator disguised as a man—will offer a new kind of entertainment.»
This first episode promises a blend of genres, where mystery and danger are set to constantly intertwine with comedy and romance. The big question is how Kang Jae-hee will manage to investigate Yoon Yi-jun once her feelings begin to complicate her mission.
