The upcoming family and romance drama « Love on the Menu » shared a first glimpse of its script reading, bringing together its entire main cast alongside director Hong Seok-gu and screenwriter Lee Kyung-hee.
Set to premiere in July, the series will tell the story of two former lovers who reunite eight years after a painful breakup, hoping to heal their wounds and give themselves a second chance.
Ha Seok-jin and Hani at the center of a romance filled with regret
Ha Seok-jin plays Kim Moo-jin, a man who sacrificed everything for love. Behind his cold and sometimes distant exterior lies a sincere personality deeply committed to his feelings.

During the reading, the actor brought to life a character torn between his love story with Han Gyu-rim and the emotional wounds he had accumulated over the past eight years.
Opposite him, Hani plays Han Gyu-rim, a woman who has given up on love in order to devote herself to her family. The actress highlighted both her character’s strength of character and the emotional exhaustion she carries within her after years of sacrifice.

According to the production team, the chemistry between the two actors immediately caught people's attention, blending nostalgia, emotion, and romance.
After the table read, Ha Seok-jin described his character as «someone who appears cold, but who is more sincere in love than anyone else.» He also shared, «After hearing everyone’s voices and synchronizing our performances, I felt like the story in the script was coming to life right before our eyes. There are many interesting stories to discover, so please look forward to it.»
For her part, Hani explained, «She’s a character who naturally brings comfort to those who watch her, and one you can’t help but root for. I hope viewers will follow Gyu-rim’s journey throughout the story.»
She added, «It was fascinating and exciting to see characters that had previously existed only in my imagination come to life right before my eyes. I hope viewers will laugh and cry along with them and feel a sense of warmth in their hearts.»

An experienced family cast
The drama will also feature many well-known actors.
Park You-na plays Han Gyu-young, Han Gyu-rim's younger sister. The first scenes between the two characters have already shown a relationship that blends familial affection with everyday tensions.

Bae Jung-nam plays Jo Heung-sik, a close friend of Gyu-rim’s who is always by her side. His character is expected to bring a more realistic and heartwarming dimension to the story.

The cast also includes several familiar faces to K-drama fans, including Kwon Hae-hyo, Yoon Yoo-sun, Ryu Seung-soo, and Jin Kyung. These veteran actors have helped set the tone for the drama through scenes that alternate between humor, emotion, and family conflicts.

Min Jin-woong, Lee Joo-yeon, Bae Youn-kyu, and Jung Bo-min also round out the cast and will bring extra energy to this story centered on family relationships and second chances.
