The director of «Business Proposal» is taking a radical new direction. For «Pyramid» (working title), his upcoming drama on SBS, Park Sun-ho is tackling a financial thriller centered on an extraordinary scam. And the cast is taking shape: Kang Han-na is reportedly set to join Yoon Kye-sang, who has already been tapped for the lead role.
Kang Han-na is reviewing the offer
Kang Han-na recently received an offer to join «Pyramid» and has reportedly decided to accept it. Her agency, beyond J, took a slightly more cautious approach, stating that the actress is considering the offer positively.
If she accepts, it will be another major project for the actress, who is currently filming « Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid », a tvN drama set to premiere next year.
The Rise and Fall of a Con Artist
«Pyramid» tells the story of the rise and fall of Lee Jang-hoon, the mastermind behind the biggest financial fraud in the country's history. It's a rare subject for Korean dramas and holds great promise for a high-octane thriller.
Yoon Kye-sang has been announced as the actor set to play this character. However, the news has not yet been confirmed: his agency has not responded. The lead role therefore remains, for now, unconfirmed.
From Romantic Chaebol to Massive Fraud
Behind the camera, Park Sun-ho takes us by surprise. Known for the hit romantic comedy «Business Proposal» and later for «Undercover Miss Hong,» he tackles a much darker genre with «Pyramid.».
He’ll be able to count on a screenwriter well-versed in power struggles: Park Kyung-soo. He’s the creator of «The Whirlwind,» a Netflix political thriller, as well as series like «Punch» and «Whisper,» known for their conspiracies and plot twists. An unexpected pairing that could give the project a tone that’s both accessible and tense.
«Pyramid» is set to air on SBS next year. Neither the air date nor the rest of the cast has been announced yet. It remains to be seen whether Yoon Kye-sang will confirm his participation, and what role Kang Han-na will play opposite the mastermind behind the scam.
