After My Demon, Sweet Home and a lengthy digression on his military service, Song Kang is set to return to K-dramas. And for his comeback, the actor is once again changing gears with Four Hands, Two Sonatas, a drama centered on music, competition, and youth.

Song Kang plays the role of Kang Bi-o, a child prodigy pianist whose perfectly controlled life is about to be turned upside down by rivalry and new encounters. This role is highly anticipated, as it marks his return to a drama series after completing his military service in October 2025.

While we wait to discover this new side of the actor, now is the perfect time to revisit his filmography. Addictive romance, ballet, monsters, and complicated relationships: here are 7 Song Kang K-dramas to Watch or Rewatch Before Four Hands, Two Sonatas.

1. My Demon – Jung Gu-won

It's hard to start anywhere else. In My Demon, Song Kang plays Jung Gu-won, a centuries-old demon who makes deals with humans in exchange for their souls. His well-ordered life is turned upside down when he meets Do Do-hee (Kim Yoo-jung), the heiress to a powerful conglomerate, and mysteriously loses his powers.

To get them back, he has to stay close to her. This closeness leads to a marriage of convenience and, of course, to feelings that were certainly not part of the plan.

2. Sweet Home – Cha Hyun-su

Forget all about the romantic hero. In Sweet Home, Song Kang becomes Cha Hyun-su, a lonely and deeply depressed teenager who moves into the Green Home residence after his family's death.

At the same time, a mysterious phenomenon is gradually transforming humans into monsters that embody their deepest desires. Trapped in the building, Hyun-su and the other residents must learn to survive, while the young man discovers that he, too, is changing.

Aired over three seasons between 2020 and 2024, Sweet Home allowed Song Kang to showcase a much darker and more physical side of his acting. If you only know him from his romantic roles, this is probably the drama you should watch first.

3. Navillera – Lee Chae-rok

Perhaps one of the most moving roles of his career. In Navillera, Song Kang plays Lee Chae-rok, a talented young ballet dancer who is going through a difficult time. His life changes when he meets Shim Deok-chul, a 70-year-old man who decides to finally pursue the dream he had given up on his entire life: learning ballet.

Their relationship, which was complicated at first, gradually evolves into a beautiful story of passing on traditions and friendship between two generations.

Here, there’s no love triangle or mysterious heartthrob destined to make the heroine’s heart flutter. Song Kang must convey the frustration, doubt, ambition, and vulnerability of a young artist. And as Four Hands, Two Sonatas, where this time he will play the role of a child prodigy pianist, Navillera it inevitably takes on a distinctive flavor.

4. Nevertheless – Park Jae-eon

Ah, Park Jae-eon… He made just as many viewers sigh as he did win over.

In Nevertheless, Song Kang plays an extremely charming art student who loves to flirt but has no desire to commit. He meets Yoo Na-bi (Han So-hee), a young woman who no longer truly believes in love after a painful relationship. The attraction between them is immediate, but their expectations are far from the same.

Adapted from a webtoon, the drama focuses less on the ideal romance and more on desire, ambiguity, and relationships where we sometimes know we should walk away… but can’t bring ourselves to do so.

Park Jae-eon will likely stay one of Song Kang's most controversial characters, and that is precisely what makes Nevertheless just as interesting to watch again.

5. Love Alarm – Hwang Sun-oh

Before Nevertheless and My Demon, there were Love Alarm. In this sci-fi-tinged romance, an app lets you know if someone within a 10-meter radius has romantic feelings for you. Song Kang stars as Hwang Sun-oh, a popular high school student from a wealthy family who falls in love with Kim Jo-jo (Kim So-hyun).

The problem? Her best friend also has feelings for her. The resulting love triangle has been the subject of much discussion among fans, and Love Alarm is particularly significant in Song Kang's career: premiering in 2019, the drama is one of the productions that truly introduced him to international audiences.

There are two seasons, even though the choices made in the second one are still likely to spark some debate among those who have seen it…

6. Forecasting Love and Weather – Lee Si-woo

After the students from Nevertheless, Song Kang moves on to a much more mature romance with Forecasting Love and Weather.

He embodies Lee Si-woo, a passionate young forecaster working for the Korea Meteorological Administration. He grows closer to Jin Ha-kyung (Park Min-young), his supervisor, after she goes through a particularly painful breakup.

The drama obviously uses the weather as a metaphor for relationships: you can analyze the signs, predict the risks, and gather all the data you can, but feelings are sometimes impossible to anticipate. The result is a more subdued office romance that lets viewers discover Song Kang in a different light from his typical teenage or fantasy roles.

7. The Liar and His Lover – Baek Jin-woo

To wrap things up, let's go back to the beginning. In 2017, Song Kang was still far from being the star of Sweet Home or My Demon when it appears in The Liar and His Lover. In it, he plays Baek Jin-woo, a friend of the heroine Yoon So-rim (Joy of Red Velvet) and a member of her group.

The role is a minor one, but it’s interesting today as a way to gauge how far the actor has come. And, above all, there’s a nice nod to his next project: Music was already at the heart of the story.

Almost 10 years later, Song Kang is making a comeback in the music world with Four Hands, Two Sonatas, but this time as the headliner.

«Four Hands, Two Sonatas»: Song Kang's Grand Return

After beginning his military service on April 2, 2024, Song Kang returned to civilian life on October 1, 2025. Even while he was away, fans were able to see him in the third season of Sweet Home, filmed before she left.

Four Hands, Two Sonatas So this marks a real comeback. The drama is set to introduce us to Song Kang in the role of Kang Bi-o, a piano prodigy navigating an environment where talent, ambition, and competition intersect. The title refers to «four hands,» when two pianists play together on the same piano.

A universe that might, in fact, echo Navillera. After playing a dancer wholly devoted to his art, Song Kang will now have to step into the shoes of a musician whose discipline and convictions will be put to the test.

By Hwang Sun-oh in Love Alarm to Cha Hyun-su in Sweet Home, including the highly controversial Park Jae-eon of Nevertheless and the demon Gu-won from My Demon, Song Kang has already explored some surprisingly different worlds.

Now it remains to be seen where Kang Bi-o will rank among his most memorable roles.
