One ball, one team

The teaser opens with Yoon Seo-jin, played by Seo Eun-soo. We learn along the way that she is a physical education teacher as well as the head of the high school’s baseball team.

The camera then follows the ball she’s holding. It passes from player to player before landing in the hands of the new coach, Jung Min-yong, who looks directly into the camera with a confident smile. The tagline sums up the series’ ambition: it was on the court that they found the solution.

A gift for spotting talent

This slogan echoes the one on the first poster, in which the coach stated that the answers had begun to reveal themselves before his eyes. For the «gift» mentioned in the title has now been revealed.

Jung Min-yong, a former pitching coach for a professional team, saw his career come crashing down after false accusations and then an accident. But the accident left him with a strange gift: the ability to perceive, at a single glance, the talent of every player.

A gift that shakes up his beliefs: he, who once believed in the power of hard work and the journey itself, will now have a shortcut… even if it means going against Yoon Seo-jin, who is convinced that the journey matters just as much as the result.

A team of real players

The Deokcheon team’s cast has one unique feature: Cha Been, who plays Captain Heo Seung-il, and Han Si-hyun, who plays pitcher Cha Tae-hoon, both played baseball in high school. This lends added credibility to the game scenes.

Seo Hyun-woo rounds out the main trio as Ahn Ki-man, the interim manager of Jung Min-yong’s former team, who is obsessed with statistics.

Based on a hit webtoon and co-directed by Kim Kyu-tae, «Gift» consists of 12 episodes. The drama will air starting Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 9:10 p.m. (Korean time)—1:10 p.m. in France—on tvN, on Saturdays and Sundays. A streaming platform is yet to be announced.
