Netflix has officially unveiled the first images from « Mousetrap«, his new thriller starring Ryu Jun-yeol and Sul Kyung-gu. On that occasion, the platform also confirmed that the series will be available on August 28 2026.
Adapted from the webtoon Field Mouse, this production promises a mind-bending story in which the line between reality and fiction gradually blurs. It also marks Ryu Jun-yeol’s return to the screen after a year-long hiatus.
When Your Identity Is Stolen
Ryu Jun-yeol plays Moon Jae, a novelist who has been living in seclusion for years. His monotonous daily life is turned upside down when he discovers that he can no longer access his bank account: his fingerprints are no longer recognized.
He quickly realizes that a mysterious individual nicknamed «The Rat» He has long been preparing for the theft of his entire existence. His identity, his name, his fortune… everything has been stolen from him. The most troubling thing is that no one now seems able to recognize the real Moon Jae. To everyone, he has become an impostor unable to prove who he really is.
Faced with this situation, he has no choice but to join forces with No Ja (Sul Kyung-gu), a ruthless loan shark who used to pursue him. Together, they embark on a breathless chase to find the man who stole his life.
A First Look Under High Tension
The first trailer, released today, immediately sets an oppressive tone. With its blend of paranoia, identity theft, and manipulation, «Mousetrap» promises to be a psychological thriller in which every clue calls into question what appears to be real.
The official poster perfectly illustrates this idea by depicting Moon Jae facing an unprecedented nightmare: if he fails to prove that he is the real Moon Jae, he will be considered nothing more than an impostor.
With this original plot and a cast led by Ryu Jun-yeol and Sul Kyung-gu, «Mousetrap» is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Korean thrillers of late summer.
