Following the contemporary romance and espionage of « 100 Days of Deception », Park Jinyoung could mark a complete shift in his career. The actor has received an offer to play a crown prince with a passion for science in «Hash’s Shinru» (literal title), a new historical romance adapted from a popular web novel. Jeon So-young is also in talks to play a mysterious young woman who can see the future.

On September 16, several Korean media outlets reported that Park Jinyoung and Jeon So-young had been chosen to play the lead roles in «Hash’s Shinru.» However, their participation has not yet been officially confirmed.

BH Entertainment, the agency representing both actors, responded to the reports by stating, «This is one of the projects that has been proposed to them.» The two actors are therefore currently in talks regarding the drama, contrary to initial Korean reports that presented their casting as a done deal.

Produced by Studio&NEW, «Hash’s Shinru» will be adapted from the web novel of the same name. The story will take place in the 15th-century Joseon and will bring together a particularly brilliant future monarch and a woman with a gift that is, to say the least, extraordinary.

Park Jinyoung could become a crown prince and a scientific genius

Park Jinyoung was offered the role of Lee Hyang, the crown prince described as a brilliant scientist who seeks to contribute to Joseon’s development. The character is therefore not expected to be solely the focus of the romance. His intellectual abilities and ambitions for the kingdom are likely to play a significant role in his story.

If he accepts the offer, «Hash’s Shinru» will mark Park Jinyoung’s first appearance in a historical drama since his acting debut. This is a significant new direction for an actor who has so far explored very different genres through series such as «He Is Psychometric,» «The Devil Judge,» « Yumi's Cells », «The Witch,» or even « Shining ".

He will also be reunited with Kim Yoo-jung very soon in «100 Days of Deception,» which is set to premiere in October.

«Hash’s Shinru» would thus allow him to take on a very different character: a crown prince who is both a man of power and a scientist. But his daily life at the palace would be turned upside down by the arrival of a woman capable of knowing what has not yet happened.

Jeon So-young might be able to see the future… and enter the palace with him

Jeon So-young, for her part, has received an offer to play the role of Hae Ru, a mysterious young woman with the ability to predict the future. After a chance encounter with Lee Hyang, she ends up following the crown prince to the palace. She then helps him with his plans while gradually growing closer to him, paving the way for the romance at the heart of the story.

The encounter between the two characters will therefore be based on an interesting contrast: Lee Hyang relies on her intelligence and science to advance her kingdom, while Hae Ru can literally glimpse the future. The drama also has a notable connection to « Love in the Moonlight ".

Yoon Yi-soo, author of the original web novel «Hash’s Shinru,» will write the TV adaptation herself. She is also the author of the web novel that served as the basis for «Love in the Moonlight,» the hit historical drama that aired in 2016 starring Park Bo-gum and Kim Yoo-jung.

After making a name for herself in several projects, Jeon So-young is also set to appear soon in « Retired Agent + Management Team »as well as in Season 2 of « Study Group ".

At this time, neither Park Jinyoung nor Jeon So-young has confirmed their participation in «Hash’s Shinru.» Furthermore, no filming or broadcast dates have been announced.
