The live-action adaptation of « Solo Leveling » continues to draw attention with an increasingly impressive cast. Following the confirmation of Byeon Woo-seok in the lead role, two new names may be joining the project: Rain and Lee Sung-min.
On July 9, several Korean media outlets reported that the two actors would star in the upcoming drama adaptation of the famous web novel, which was later turned into a webtoon and then an animated series. However, following these reports, Rain’s agency clarified that nothing had been confirmed yet: «We are still reviewing the casting offer for Solo Leveling, and nothing has been decided yet.»
Lee Sung-min's agency has not yet officially responded.
Two S-rank hunters at the heart of the story
«Solo Leveling» tells the story of Sung Jin-woo, an E-rank hunter considered the weakest of them all.
In this universe, hunters protect humanity from monsters that emerge from mysterious portals called Gates. After a near-death experience, Sung Jin-woo gains a unique ability that allows him to gradually become more powerful.
His unexpected transformation then makes him one of humanity's greatest hopes. Byeon Woo-seok will play Sung Jin-woo in this highly anticipated adaptation.
Rain is said to have received an offer to play Baek Yoon-ho, an S-rank hunter and master of the White Tiger Guild. A key figure in the story, he watches Sung Jin-woo’s spectacular progress and tries to recruit him into his guild.
On his side, Lee Sung-min is reportedly being considered to play Go Gun-hee, president of the Hunters' Association and a hunter himself, with the rank of S.
A cast that fans have been eagerly awaiting
Given the immense international popularity of «Solo Leveling,» every announcement regarding the cast sparks a lot of reactions.
In addition to Byeon Woo-seok, who has already been cast in the lead role, Han So-hee is currently in talks to play Cha Hae-in, while Kang You-seok may play Yoo Jin-ho. Kang Mina is also in negotiations to join the series.
With its fantasy world, spectacular battles, and a hero who has become a fan favorite, the live-action adaptation of «Solo Leveling» is already one of the most anticipated Korean projects for the coming years.
