Figure skating champion Cha Jun-hwan is set to take on a new challenge—this time in front of the cameras! The South Korean athlete has officially joined the cast of « Palace Land » (working title), a new sitcom from TVING expected in 2027.

Joining him will be Woo Davi, Lee Jae-won, Nancy from MOMOLAND, and Park So-jin, along with several other artists, in a comedy centered on young employees at an amusement park.

And behind the enchanting scenery, the shows, and the parades, reality will be much less magical than it seems!

Cha Jun-hwan Makes the Switch from Figure Skating to Comedy

Known for his career as an Olympic figure skater, Cha Jun-hwan will play Sung Dae-han, a new employee at the Palace Land amusement park.

Enthusiastic but inexperienced, the young man will have to learn to find his place in a professional environment he is not yet familiar with. Between the rules he must follow, the coworkers he needs to get to know, and the unexpected challenges of everyday life, adjusting to his new surroundings won’t be easy.

This role marks a new chapter for Cha Jun-hwan, who is making his debut in television drama with a character far removed from his usual athletic persona.

Opposite him, Woo Davi will play Song Ye-jin, a more experienced employee at the park. The two characters will develop a collegial relationship based on their difference in seniority: he is discovering the demands of the job, while she already knows the ins and outs of how Palace Land operates.

Their dynamic promises to be one of the key elements of this sitcom, even though the production team has not yet specified whether their relationship will take a romantic turn.

Nancy from MOMOLAND, Park So-jin, and Lee Jae-won round out the cast

To bring the behind-the-scenes world of the amusement park to life, «Palace Land» will feature a particularly diverse cast.

Lee Jae-won will play Kang Cheol-su, while Kim Kyu-won will play Yang Seong-wook and Kim Seung-ho will play Kwak Do-hyun. Singer Minseo will appear in the role of Han Ah-reum.

Another notable addition to the cast: Nancy from MOMOLAND, who will play Ji Seul-gi. She will join this ensemble comedy, in which relationships among coworkers will take center stage.

Video creator Lee Nam-su will play Kwon Su-nam, while Ahn Ju-mi will portray Seo Go-woon, the park’s youngest employee. Finally, Park So-jin will round out the cast as Yoon Young-hee.

While the characters’ names are now known, the production team has not yet revealed their individual backstories or the relationships that will bind them together. With so many different personalities gathered in the same workplace, however, there should be no shortage of arguments, misunderstandings, and comical situations.

A sitcom set behind the scenes at amusement parks

Billed as TVING's first original sitcom, «Palace Land» will chronicle the hectic daily lives of young part-time employees trying to make a living.

The story takes place in an amusement park where visitors come in search of dreams, fantasy, and unforgettable moments. But when the parades end and the lights go out, the employees must keep working.

It is precisely this behind-the-scenes reality that the series aims to explore. Behind the smiles put on for visitors lie exhausting days, tensions among coworkers, financial difficulties, and the uncertainties of a generation searching for its path.

«Palace Land» will use humor to explore the sometimes difficult realities of precarious employment and the concerns of South Korean youth. The series will be directed by Yoo Hak-chan, best known for «The Great Escape,» and written by Lee Sol.

Somewhere between a professional comedy and a coming-of-age story, it should feature characters who grow through their experiences, their mistakes, and the bonds they form.

«Palace Land» is scheduled to premiere in 2027 on TVING. No specific air date has been announced yet.
