Sung Hoon and Oh Se-young are getting ready to go from arguments to romance in « What a Boss Wants ». The new drama brought its cast together for a first script reading, offering a glimpse into the dynamic between a boss who trusts data more than people and a young woman who divides her time between job hunting and music. This encounter is all the more special because Sung Hoon’s character is already searching for a mysterious singer… without necessarily knowing who she really is.

Based on the web novel of the same name, «What a Boss Wants» is currently a working title. Production has been entrusted to Kang Solbased on a Nam Ji-yeon.

The first table read brought together Sung Hoon, Oh Se-young, Lee Jung-shin of CNBLUE, Park Jung-hak, Jo Hee-bong, Lee Do-yeop, Kim Yun-kyung, and Lee Choong-joo. The drama is expected to air in November, though no specific date has been announced yet.

Sung Hoon prefers data to people

Sung Hoon will play Kwon Do-hyuk, CEO of Oyes Entertainment and a true genius in the field of artificial intelligence. Behind his impeccable exterior, however, lie deep emotional wounds. Cold and extremely rational, Do-hyuk trusts data more than he trusts people.

During the reading, Sung Hoon adopted a measured tone and an authoritative presence to bring out this complex personality. Do-hyuk also has a surprising quirk: he has no sense of taste.

However, it is another of his senses that will turn his daily life upside down. After hearing a woman’s voice on an album, he becomes determined to find her. This mysterious voice will lead him to Lee Eun-chae, played by Oh Se-young.

The young woman, however, leads two very different lives. By day, she's looking for a job. By night, she takes the stage under the name of " »Soo," as the lead singer of an indie band. Oh Se-young brought a radiant energy and great confidence to the character during the table read, highlighting the contrast between Eun-chae and the very rational Do-hyuk.

Their initial dynamic will consist mainly of arguments

Eun-chae is set to become the only uncontrollable factor in Do-hyuk’s previously perfectly organized life. And their growing closeness won’t come without a few bumps along the way.

The two characters will frequently clash—a dynamic that Sung Hoon and Oh Se-young have already brought to life through their lively exchanges during the script reading.

The romance is thus expected to play on a paradox: Do-hyuk sets out to find a woman because her voice made an impression on him, but when Eun-chae actually enters his daily life, she is far from behaving like someone he could easily integrate into his perfectly controlled existence.

Lee Jung-shin will bring a fresh energy to the story in the role of Moon Tae-kyung, a warm and easygoing pediatrician. Beloved by those around him, his character will stand in stark contrast to Do-hyuk’s coldness.

Park Jung-hak, Jo Hee-bong, Lee Do-yeop, Kim Yun-kyung, and Lee Choong-joo round out the cast. During this first table read, the actors also began to establish the relationships surrounding the main couple.

Enter a distinctive voice, a nocturnal identity, and a boss who has a hard time dealing with the unexpected, «What a Boss Wants» thus seems intent on turning Do-hyuk and Eun-chae’s encounter into a problem that even data won’t be able to easily solve.

«What a Boss Wants» is scheduled for release in November.
