«Deal done?» It all starts with this simple question. TVING has unveiled the first teaser for « The Substitute », a thriller about three high school students who are drawn into an irreversible situation on the day of the suneung, the national college entrance exam. And the pact they made won't go as planned.
A Day That Will Decide Everything
As a reminder, the series follows Kang Geon-tae (Cha Kang-yoon), a brilliant student from a modest background, enrolled in an exclusive high school thanks to a scholarship. A victim of blackmail, He finds himself forced to take the Suneung in someone else's place..
The teaser opens with Nam Jae-yeop (Bae Hyeon-seong), the seemingly perfect son, who proposes a deal. Two slogans then appear: one refers to a day that will seal their fate, the other to an agreement that will turn everything upside down.
The Hunter Turned Prey
At first, Nam Jae-yeop seems to be calling the shots. He’s the one keeping the others locked in a relationship that’s as fragile as it is dangerous. Kang Geon-tae and his friend Joo Hee-dong (Park Yoon-ho), meanwhile, find themselves in increasingly dangerous situations: they are chased and then beaten up.
But the balance of power soon shifts. The video ends with Nam Jae-yeop, covered in bruises and furious, muttering that there’s only one person who could have done this to him—without saying who it is.
It remains to be seen which of the three has truly gained the upper hand, and what each is willing to sacrifice when a single point can change a whole life.
«The Substitute» will be available on TVING starting November 23, 2026.
