" A Love Other Than Yours » has just premiered on KBS2 and Prime Video, and the romance with Seo Kang-jun and Ahn Eun-jin It didn’t take long for the show to shake up its main couple. (Spoiler alert!) The first episode, which recorded an average national viewership rating of 2.6 % in Korea, ended with Namgoong Ho and Lee Mi-do breaking up after a 10-year relationship. But starting in episode 2, the two exes will have to act as if nothing happened—for a rather unexpected reason.
The new KBS2 drama focuses on a couple facing a challenging time in their relationship. After 10 years together, Namgoong Ho (Seo Kang-jun) and Lee Mi-do (Ahn Eun-jin) no longer view their future in the same way.
While Ho is ready to take the next step and is thinking about marriage, Mi-do, on the other hand, feels increasing pressure. In the first episode, she therefore ends up making a radical decision: end their 10-year relationship. The premiere on Korean TV on September 12 drew a average national audience of 2.6 1Q-3Q (a solid viewership). Fans are calling the first episode «crazy» and «hot,» praising the chemistry between the characters, the daring scenes, and this realistic portrayal of lasting love.
But even though the two have officially split up, 10 years of habits clearly don't disappear overnight.
Separated after 10 years, but still unable to break their old habits
The morning after their breakup makes this immediately clear. Out of habit, Namgoong Ho calls Mi-do again to wake her up. Even funnier, the two of them start reciting their usual «I love you» before they realize what they've just done and start to panic.
A scene that sums up their situation pretty well: their relationship no longer officially exists, but Their daily lives still go on as if they were still together. And Episode 2 will take this contradiction even further.
New photos show the two former partners participating together in an event for engaged couples. Their reconciliation, however, has nothing to do with this decision: they simply want to win the prizes at stake.
Their competitive spirit even seems to quickly make them forget the awkwardness of having to pretend to be in love just one day after their breakup.
Mi-do immediately laid down her conditions: «No matter what happens, we’ll split the prize money 50-50.« Ho replied, »Don’t go back on your word later, okay?”
Their 10-year relationship is about to be put to the test by a simple quiz
On paper, the two former lovers have a significant advantage. After 10 years together, they know each other’s habits, preferences, and little quirks better than almost anyone else. So when a quiz for couples begins, they tackle the challenge with confidence.
But certain questions seem to catch them off guard almost immediately. This is a rather revealing detail for a drama that specifically seeks to explore what remains of a couple after such a long relationship. Ho and Mi-do may think they know everything about each other, but their breakup might actually show that there were some things they missed.
Now it remains to be seen how the audience will react to the next installment after this first episode, and especially how viewership will change in the coming weeks. Episode 2 of «A Love Other Than Yours» will air on September 13 at 9:20 p.m. KST on KBS2 and will be available on Prime Video afterward.
