It's the most anticipated return to the screen for an actress this holiday season. Kim Ji-won already showcases Gye Soo-jung's confidence in « Doctor X ". After recently revealing the script reading and its cast, SBS’s new medical drama is now sharing the first detailed images of its heroine, a brilliant surgeon who is determined to shake up the status quo at a hospital riddled with corruption.

Based on the famous Japanese series of the same name, «Doctor X» will take the form of a medical black in which the heroine's skills will be her main weapon against a system where hierarchy and personal interests seem to have taken precedence over medicine.
A surgeon who leaves no room for error
Kim Ji-won stars in Gye Soo-jung, a surgeon sent to Guseo University Hospital by an agency that specializes in placing doctors. And her arrival is sure to turn heads.

Instead of the usual white coat associated with medical dramas, the new images feature Gye Soo-jung in a long black leather coat, reinforcing the almost intimidating image of this new «dark hero.».
His particularly cold gaze and his self-assurance also reflect one of the character's main traits: In the operating room, Gye Soo-jung does not tolerate any mistakes.

In fact, she doesn't need her status or special connections to make her mark. It is her exceptional surgical skills that will enable her, single-handedly, to challenge the hierarchy at Guseo University Hospital and take on an institution riddled with corruption.
«We can't imagine Gye Soo-jung without Kim Ji-won»
The production team seems particularly pleased with Kim Ji-won’s transformation, so much so that they believe the actress truly embodied her character from the very start of filming.

«From the very first day of filming, her tone of voice, her gaze, and her mannerisms were those of Gye Soo-jung herself. We’ve reached the point where we can’t imagine a Gye Soo-jung who isn’t Kim Ji-won,» the team said.
The production thus invites the audience to witness the birth of a true «medical dark hero», hinting at a character quite different from some of the more romantic roles Kim Ji-won has been associated with in recent years.

The actress will be joined by, among others, Lee Jung-eun, Son Hyun-joo, and Kim Woo-seok. Lee Jung-eun will play Jang Hee-sook, the cunning head of the agency that employs Gye Soo-jung, while Son Hyun-joo will play an official at Guseo University Hospital. Kim Woo-seok will play Park Tae-kyung, a privileged young intern who develops a mentor-protégé relationship with the heroine.
«Doctor X» will premiere on October 9 on SBS and will also be available on Netflix worldwide, by watching the Korean TV broadcast (2 episodes per week).
