Who will play Cheon Jang-mi in the upcoming seasons of « The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call »?" While a Korean media outlet reports that Jeong Ye-in, a member of Lovelyz, was chosen after a series of auditions to succeed Ha Young, his agency offers a completely different account of the situation.
On September 23, MyDaily exclusively reported that Jeong Yein had been cast to take over the role of Cheon Jang-mi in Seasons 2 and 3 of the Netflix series. According to the outlet, the production team reportedly auditioned numerous actresses to find a replacement for Ha Young and ultimately chose Jeong Yein. A source cited by MyDaily also stated that the actress’s performance during her audition was particularly compelling.
A report that seemed to present the cast as a done deal… before her agency directly contradicted it.

When asked about the matter following the article’s publication, the SUBLIME agency stated: «There has been no discussion regarding her participation in “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.”»
Netflix also commented on the situation, without confirming Jeong Yein’s casting: «Discussions regarding the casting are currently underway. Nothing has been confirmed yet.»
So for now, there are two conflicting accounts. MyDaily reports that Jeong Yein auditioned and was officially cast, while her agency states that no discussions regarding her participation have taken place. Netflix has only confirmed that the search for the new actress is still underway. Until an official announcement is made, Jeong Yein cannot yet be considered the new Cheon Jang-mi.
Yet the character plays a significant role in «The Trauma Code.» As a nurse on the trauma team, Cheon Jang-mi works side by side with Baek Kang-hyuk (Ju Ji-hoon), Yang Jae-won (Choo Young-woo) and Han Yu-rim (Yoon Kyung-ho). In the first season, she was played by Ha Young.
The latter has withdrawn from the upcoming seasons following the controversy over his family's alleged ties to the Japanese colonial period in Korea. The production must therefore find a new actress before the medical team returns.
Jeong Yein is continuing her acting career alongside her work with Lovelyz
If the cast is ultimately confirmed, «The Trauma Code» would mark another major milestone in Jeong Yein’s acting career.
The young woman made her debut in November 2014 as a member of the group Lovelyz, before gradually shifting her focus to acting. Starting in 2017, she tried her hand at acting in the web drama «The Blue Sea» as well as in «Criminal Minds» on tvN.
She went on to appear in various productions aired on several platforms, including «The Country of People Who Want to Be Insiders,» «Mystery Chaebol Daughter,» and «Japangwi.».
«The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call,» meanwhile, tells the story of Baek Kang-hyuk—a brilliant trauma surgeon played by Ju Ji-hoon—who joins a struggling trauma team and sets out to turn it around. Choo Young-woo, Yoon Kyung-ho, and Jung Jae-kwang are also among the series’ main cast members.
Netflix is now preparing two additional seasons. Seasons 2 and 3 are set to be filmed back-to-back, with production scheduled to begin as early as next month. However, the identity of the new Cheon Jang-mi has yet to be officially confirmed.
