In the world of social media, appearances can sometimes hide a much more complex reality. That is precisely what « The Affair Was Just the Beginning«, the new drama starring Kim Hye-soo, Cho Yeo-jeong, Kim Ji-hoon and Kim Jae-chul.
With just a few weeks to go before its premiere, the production team has released new stills featuring the couple played by Kim Hye-soo and Kim Ji-hun. This duo seems to have it all, but their carefully crafted life could soon be turned upside down.
This dark comedy tells the story of two neighboring couples caught up in a situation spiraling out of control. On one side, a very popular couple of social media influencers who have built their reputation on the image of a happy family. On the other, a couple of doctors in the midst of a divorce. When an unexpected secret brings them together, their problems take on a magnitude that goes far beyond a simple story of infidelity.
A perfect success that is beginning to show cracks
Kim Hye-soo plays Kyung-hee, a famous influencer and the brilliant CEO of a company specializing in interior design.
The new images reveal an elegant, self-assured woman who is accustomed to managing her public image. With her sophisticated style and confidence, Kyung-hee is seen by the public as the very embodiment of professional and personal success.
However, another photo reveals a very different side of her. Far from her impeccable image, she appears lost in thought, as if the weight of an unexpected event were beginning to shake her convictions.
Just as she reaches the peak of her career, Kyung-hee must face a crisis that could threaten everything she has built. The question now is how far she will be willing to go to protect this ideal life.
A husband who also has his own secrets
Opposite her, Kim Ji-hun plays Jae-hong, her young husband. Portrayed as the other half of a couple admired by their followers, he appears to enjoy a comfortable life in a luxurious residential neighborhood.
But behind his smile lies a dark side as well. The new stills show Jae-hong frozen in the middle of the night, as if he had just made a shocking discovery. His development will be one of the drama’s key elements, as the character also seems to be hiding something—even from his own wife.
The chemistry between Kim Hye-soo and Kim Ji-hun will also be at the heart of the story. The actress said she was impressed by her co-star: «At one point, I found myself looking at the monitor and seeing Jae-hong himself. I was very happy to discover a new side of Kim Ji-hun.»
For his part, Kim Ji-hun praised Kim Hye-soo’s dedication: «Kim Hye-soo always came prepared to deliver performances that went beyond what was written in the script. Every time we worked together, we were able to create an even stronger synergy.»
The drama will begin airing on July 31 on Coupang Play (not yet available on any international platforms).
