Billed as a black comedy, this new production tells the story of two neighboring couples whose lives will be turned upside down by a secret so significant that a simple act of infidelity will ultimately seem trivial.
Kim Hye-soo plays Kyung-hee, a popular influencer who has built her reputation on the image of an ideal family. Through her posts and videos, she sells the public on the dream of a perfect life in a luxurious residential neighborhood.
The first poster highlights this very contrast. Smiling, dressed in bright colors, and holding a selfie stick, Kyung-hee seems to be enjoying a carefree life. Yet, behind the windows of her large house, several scenes disrupt this idyllic image. In particular, we see a man and a woman embracing, a man watching discreetly from behind a wall, and a shattered family portrait.
These various clues suggest that drama and secrets are already lurking beneath the surface.
The teaser opens with Kyung Hee (Kim Hye-soo), a successful influencer, moving in with her husband Jae Hong (Kim Ji-hoon) and their daughter to the residential neighborhood they’ve long dreamed of.
Just as the family seems to have finally found happiness, Kyung Hee says, «I feel like I’ve accomplished almost everything in my life.»
But that peace is quickly shattered after she meets her neighbor Su Jeong (Cho Yeo-jeong), the director of a dermatology clinic. Behind her warm smile, Su Jeong seems to hide a much more calculating personality, as she herself is going through a particularly contentious divorce with her ex-husband.
A case… or something much worse?
The first doubts arise when a rumor of Jae Hong's infidelity begins to circulate.
Following her husband, Kyung Hee stumbles upon a strange scene in an abandoned house located in a neighborhood slated for demolition. From that moment on, she says, «From that day on, my whole life was turned upside down.»
The teaser also shows Su Jeong discreetly eavesdropping on a conversation before uttering this intriguing line: «Neighbors are supposed to help each other, right?»
The video ends with a line that perfectly captures the drama’s atmosphere: «I almost wish it had just been a simple affair.»
This suggests that the real secret at the heart of this story could be far more serious than infidelity.
A Couple of Doctors: A Balance Between Elegance and Hidden Tensions
In the drama, Cho Yeo-jeong plays Su-jeong, while Kim Jae-chul plays Bo-seong. Together, they portray a married couple of doctors whose true intentions remain hard to discern.
The new images reveal, among other things, various sides of Su-jeong, the director of a dermatology clinic.
On the one hand, she comes across as a woman from a privileged social class, with an elegant demeanor, a controlled smile, and a flawless appearance.
But another image reveals a much more unsettling contrast: his cold gaze toward another character hints at significant tension and a more complex personality.
Bo-seong, too, seems to be hiding much more than he lets on.
Dressed in an impeccable suit and with a reassuring demeanor, he initially comes across as a trustworthy man. However, other scenes suggest a much darker determination—he is willing to do anything to achieve his goals.
A dark comedy featuring a star-studded cast
Alongside Kim Hye-soo, the drama will feature Cho Yeo-jung, Kim Ji-hoon, and Kim Jae-chul.
The story will also follow a couple of doctors going through a particularly contentious divorce. Their daily lives will gradually become intertwined with those of the influencer couple, triggering a series of chain reactions. The series promises to blend family tensions, secrets, dark humor, and a critique of the facades people maintain on social media.
The title itself, «The Affair Is Not the Problem Right Now,» suggests that the characters will have to deal with problems far more serious than a simple extramarital affair.
