The cast of « Iseop's Romance »might ultimately take a whole new direction. After the Lee Jong-suk and Choi Yoon-ji's departures, Kim Hye-yoon has received an offer to play the female lead in this new office romance, while Hwang Min-hyun is already in talks for the male lead. But here’s the catch: Kim Hye-yoon's participation has not yet been confirmed.
On October 1, JTBC News reported that the actress had been cast to star alongside Hwang Min-hyun. Her agency, Artist Company, quickly clarified this information, stating: «It is true that she received an offer for “Iseop’s Romance,” but her casting has not been confirmed.»
Kim Hye-yoon could become the next Kang Min-gyeong
Adapted from a popular web novel of the same name, «Iseop’s Romance» will tell the story of Tae I-seop, the third-generation heir to the TK Group—a man who excels in virtually every area of life except one: love.
His career path will intersect with that of Kang Min-gyeong, who joins the company at the same time as he does and manages to outperform him. It is precisely this character that Kim Hye-yoon was reportedly approached to play.
If she accepts the offer, the actress from « Lovely Runner », «Extraordinary You,» and «SKY Castle» could therefore find themselves at the center of an office romance in which the professional rivalry between the two protagonists promises to play a significant role.
For his part, Hwang Min-hyun is currently in talks to play Tae I-seop. Again, his participation has not yet been officially confirmed. The Kim Hye-yoon–Hwang Min-hyun duo therefore remains, for the time being, a potential cast.
Lee Jong-suk and Choi Yoon-ji were originally set to play the lead roles
These new discussions come after several major changes in the cast of «Iseop’s Romance.» Lee Jong-suk and Choi Yoon-ji had initially been officially announced as the drama’s two leads.
Lee Jong-suk was set to play Tae I-seop, but ultimately left the project. Choi Yoon-ji, who had been cast as his co-star in the role of Kang Min-gyeong, subsequently withdrew as well. According to previously released information, these departures were due to scheduling conflicts.
The production team has therefore begun searching for new actors to take on the two lead roles. Hwang Min-hyun was initially mentioned as a candidate to replace Lee Jong-suk, and Kim Hye-yoon is now being considered for the female lead role previously played by Choi Yoon-ji.
If both proposals are approved, «Iseop’s Romance» could thus transition from a duo Lee Jong-suk – Choi Yoon-ji a duo Hwang Min-hyun – Kim Hye-yoon.
For now, however, no definitive confirmation has been announced regarding these two new names. We will therefore have to wait for further announcements from the agencies or the production team before considering this new cast a done deal.
