A winning bet for tvN. Launched yesterday, October 19, « Love in Disguise » (known as «Love Undercover» in French) debuted with a national viewership rating of 5.6 %, according to Nielsen Korea. This is a solid rating for this romance-thriller hybrid starring Yim Si-wan and Seol In-ah, which gets right to the heart of the matter tonight: the heroine’s undercover mission begins in earnest.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 1.

A compelling first episode
With a 5.6 % rating, «Love in Disguise» is off to a great start. The series is the follow-up to « The Ordinary Jackpot », which ended its run with its highest rating yet, at 6.2 %. Starting off so close to its predecessor's final record is a good sign for what's to come.
The concept is certainly intriguing. Yim Si-wan, whom international audiences recently saw in «Squid Game,» plays Yoon Yi-jun, the arrogant heir to the Taegang Group who is suspected of murder. Opposite him, Seol In-ah, as reported by « Business Proposal », stars Kang Jae-hee, a former special forces member who will stop at nothing to uncover the truth.
Disguised as a man to approach the suspect
The first episode laid the groundwork for a game of deception. Kang Jae-hee was investigating a murder case involving Yoon Yi-jun, until the influence of the powerful Taegang Group brought the investigation to a sudden halt.
Refusing to give up, she chose a radical approach: posing as a man in order to apply for the position of personal secretary to the heir—a job reserved for male candidates. After several rounds of testing, she landed the job.
But Yoon Yi-jun might not be as naive as he seems. At the end of the episode, he took off the glasses she was using to secretly film him, telling her he’d just exposed her. What does he really know about his new recruit?

Episode 2: A Jack-of-All-Trades Secretary
Tonight, the mission begins in earnest, and it looks like it will be more confusing than expected. Clips from the episode show Kang Jae-hee tackling one unexpected task after another under her boss’s icy gaze.

As the heir’s bodyguard, she must also watch over a precious moon jar—one of those traditional Korean porcelain pieces worth a fortune. She even goes so far as to taste his food before he does, just in case it’s poisoned. A daily life far removed from the investigation she had hoped to conduct.

She also begins to mingle with Yoon Yi-jun’s inner circle, including his closest associates and Lee Hye-jung—played by Yeonwoo—who serves as secretary in the group president’s office. This encounter could seriously complicate her infiltration.
