Ji Chang-wook is ready to return to romantic comedies in « Merry Berry Love ". Disney+ has just unveiled a new poster and a teaser for the series, offering a real glimpse this time into the relationship that will gradually develop between the Korean actor and Imada Mio.
Expected on October 7, this romance will mark, in particular, the return of Ji Chang-wook a romantic comedy, three years after «Welcome to Samdalri.» In this film, her character will have to trade her life as a successful designer for a much less glamorous existence amid strawberry fields.
From successful designer to worker on a strawberry farm
Ji Chang-wook plays Lee Yu-bin, a perfectionist Korean interior designer who has enjoyed great professional success. But when his life falls apart overnight, he decides to move to a Japanese island in hopes of making a fresh start.
That's where he runs into Karin Shirahama (Mio Imada), a young Japanese farmer who has dedicated her life to growing strawberries. And their story clearly doesn't get off to the best start.
The new teaser focuses precisely on how their relationship has evolved: after a A rather unpleasant first meeting, Yu-bin gradually becomes part of Karin's daily life. The elegant designer gives way to a man with disheveled hair, exhausted from physical labor in the strawberry fields.
These situations are likely to provide much of the comic relief in «Merry Berry Love,» but the teaser also shows a more sentimental side to the character.
A relationship that is gradually becoming much more affectionate
As Yu-bin and Karin spend time together, the distance between them does indeed seem to fade away.
The teaser shows Yu-bin is becoming more and more visible alongside Karin, sometimes reliable and thoughtful, sometimes much more clingy. Their initially turbulent dynamic gradually evolves into a gentle bond, before their feelings become hard to ignore.
The new poster confirms this trend: Karin gently snuggled up against Yu-bin, while he flashes a warm smile. It's a deliberately romantic image that stands in stark contrast to their rocky start.
The drama will also be able to count on Nam Yoon-su, who will play Park Gu-nam. He arrived on the island as part of a work-and-travel program but ultimately decided to stay there for love. Unlike the main couple, who are hesitant, Gu-nam is described as a particularly forthright man, ready to pursue his feelings without hesitation.
With «Merry Berry Love,» Ji Chang-wook will return to a lighter, more romantic genre, set on a Japanese island where strawberries are expected to serve as both a backdrop and a pretext for bringing the characters closer together.
