After presenting Sung Hoon as a CEO cold and particularly hard to approach, « What a Boss Wants »is now focusing on the woman who is about to disrupt his perfectly organized daily life. New images offer a first, more detailed glimpse of’Oh Se-young as Lee Eun-chae, a young woman who divides her time between job hunting and music.
The contrast with Kwon Do-hyuk (Sung Hoon) promises to be particularly intense. While he is described as a man so rational and cold that he seems «more artificial than artificial intelligence,» Eun-chae retains a radiant personality despite the many rejections she faces in her job search.
Job seeker by day, singer by night
Based on a web novel, «What a Boss Wants» follows Kwon Do-hyuk, a chaebol heir and CEO who has absolutely no sense of taste. His life is turned upside down when he sets out to find the woman whose voice he heard on an album. That voice belongs to none other than Lee Eun-chae.
During the day, the young woman struggles to find a job in a particularly challenging job market. Setbacks pile up, but she refuses to let them get her down and continues to find small moments of happiness in her daily life.
At night, she takes on a different persona and becomes Su, the lead singer of an indie band. Yet she will try to hide this identity when she finds herself entangled in Do-hyuk’s life.
The new images highlight, above all, her cheerful and spontaneous nature. Eun-chae easily expresses her enthusiasm, anger, and tears alike, with an unpredictable side that sometimes makes her reactions hard to anticipate.
Oh Se-young and Sung Hoon are complete opposites
It is precisely this personality that is set to disrupt Do-hyuk’s highly controlled world. The production team explains that Oh Se-young uses «the richness of her emotional expressions» to bring her own unique touch to the endearing and eccentric character of Eun-chae. The team also invites viewers to discover the «unique chemistry» she will develop with Sung Hoon’s character.
The two protagonists do indeed seem to have been portrayed as complete opposites: on one hand, an expressive, optimistic young woman who is able to enjoy life’s little pleasures despite her difficulties; on the other, a cold, rational CEO who is extremely rigid in his habits.
Their meeting will be all the more significant because Eun-chae’s voice is precisely what catches Do-hyuk’s attention. But since she hides her identity when she enters his life, he might not immediately realize that he’s standing before the woman he’s been searching for.
