Cho Yi-hyun and Jin-young will experience a summer very different from the one they had imagined in « Summer Vacation ». The upcoming romantic drama follows Kim Ha-yeon (Cho Yi-hyun), an 18-year-old high school student who secretly dreams that her ordinary life will one day resemble that of a movie heroine, and Jo Yu-gyeom (Jin-young), a boy her age whose daily life is shaped by his family’s traditions.
Their encounter in the village of Upo will turn this seemingly ordinary summer into a much more mysterious experience. New posters now highlight the moments shared by the two teenagers, accompanied by a tagline that sums up the drama’s promise: «An ordinary summer at 18, an incredibly mysterious story.»
Cho Yi-hyun is waiting for something to finally turn her life upside down
On the surface, Kim Ha-yeon seems nothing like an extraordinary heroine. An ordinary high school student in both appearance and personality, she is nonetheless dissatisfied with her life. She often imagines that something straight out of a movie will come along to change her fate: that Prince Charming will suddenly appear, or that she’ll discover her real mother belongs to a wealthy family.
The opportunity to escape her daily routine arises when she accompanies her father, who is on a business trip to the village of Upo.
That’s where she meets Jo Yu-gyeom. Jin-young’s character is the son of the village landowner and the eldest grandson of the main family. Handsome and a particularly talented swimmer, Yu-gyeom nevertheless leads a monotonous life, bound by rather outdated family rules.
Ha-yeon’s sudden arrival in his daily life will lead him to discover emotions he had never really experienced before.
Behind their meeting lies a story more mysterious than just a summer romance
The new posters specifically highlight this interlude that the two teenagers will share.
Surrounded by the village’s lush greenery in the height of summer, Ha-yeon and Yu-gyeom appear in an almost surreal atmosphere. Yu-gyeom’s serene smile stands in stark contrast to his gaze, which seems to be hiding something, while Ha-yeon observes her surroundings with curiosity.
The production portrays this summer as a unique moment in the lives of the two characters: the summer they turn 18—a time they will never experience again and one that is bound to transform them both. «Through the main posters, we wanted to capture the miraculous moments these two young people discover through each other during the summer of their 18th year—a time that will never return,» explains the drama’s team.
But «Summer Vacation» isn’t just a teen romance. Its synopsis hints at a mysterious experience Ha-yeon has during her vacation before her «return to reality,» without yet specifying exactly what happens in the village of Upo.
This mystery should therefore accompany the growing closeness between the two teenagers and give special meaning to this summer, which neither of them will ever forget.
«Summer Vacation» will begin airing on October 26 on Wavve (No OTT release has been announced at this time.).
