After presenting his concept—which was, to say the least, original—« Take Charge of My Heart » («Recharge My Heart» in French) gives us a better idea this time of what the relationship between Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin. Netflix has shared new stills from the drama, featuring the main couple growing closer and the first appearances of characters who might complicate their relationship.
This fantasy romantic comedy follows Baek Ho-rang (Kim Young-kwang), a man whose life is turned upside down when the battery in his artificial heart begins to run low. To stay alive, he will need Na Bo-bae (Chae Soo-bin), a woman with a rather unusual ability: she generates electricity.
Their meeting is all the more special because Ho-rang is also the only person who isn’t affected by Bo-bae’s electric shocks. The drama gives them two amusing nicknames: she becomes a sort of «human power bank,» while he is likened to a «human rubber glove.».
Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin are starting to get closer
Above all, the new images show how this unlikely situation will bring the two characters closer together. In one of them, Ho-rang holds Bo-bae in his arms while checking his own heart rate. In another, Bo-bae—who doesn’t seem to be fully awake yet—takes his hand. These gestures already lend a much more intimate tone to a relationship that, at first, was primarily a matter of survival.
Because the two characters will eventually enter into a real «recharge agreement.» They need each other, but getting closer won’t necessarily be as easy as they expected. As they gradually share their daily lives, their arrangement is likely to evolve into something much harder to define.
Netflix actually plays directly on this idea to accompany the new images: «Can a romance be recharged, too? For them, it’s definitely possible. » A tagline that perfectly sums up the premise of «Take Charge of My Heart»: using the recharging of Ho-rang’s artificial heart as the starting point for a romance in which physical contact will take on special significance.
Cha Woo-min and Shin Do-hyun might complicate their relationship
However, the new images aren't limited to Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin. Several characters from their circle are also beginning to appear. Cha Woo-min plays Ji Eun-ho, a big star who is also Bo-bae's «No. 1 fan.».
Her arrival between the two heroes is expected to create a new dynamic in their relationship. Jung Jae-kwang, meanwhile, plays Choi Do-yoon, Ho-rang’s cousin and the troublemaker of the TS group. There is a unique rivalry between the two men, which is expected to add another source of tension to the story.
Shin Do-hyun plays Han Seol-hee, a director at Hallym Planning. Ambitious and determined to get what she wants, she begins to take an interest in Ho-rang, thereby becoming a new variable in the relationship between the two protagonists.
The cast also includes Heo Dong-won as Yoon Jae-ho, the chief secretary who works alongside Ho-rang, Kim Mi-kyung as Gong Man-seol, chairwoman of the TS Group, and Kim Hye-eun as Baek Kyung-jin, Ho-rang’s aunt and president of TS Hotel.
With these new images, «Take Charge of My Heart» begins to show how its «recharge» concept will serve both the comedy and the romance, while introducing the characters who will revolve around the main couple.
