A series of murders, two countries, two investigators who are polar opposites. Netflix unveiled the trailer for « The Blue Road », a Korean-Japanese thriller directed by Han Jun-hee, who also created the series «D.P.». Son Suk-ku and Japanese actor Eita Nagayama form an unlikely duo, set on the trail of a killer who knows no borders.

A Killer Between Seoul and Tokyo

The story follows two detectives investigating a series of murders committed in both Korea and Japan. Son Suk-ku plays Kim Seok, an investigator with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. Nagayama Eita plays Inose, an inspector with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department.

Two very different personalities, two investigative approaches that have nothing in common. But a case that transcends borders will force them to work together.

A Murder in Shinjuku

The trailer opens with Kim Seok, lost in a crowd, learning that a murder has just been committed in Shinjuku, one of Tokyo’s busiest neighborhoods. As Inose arrives at the crime scene, the Korean police officer’s voice echoes: a similar murder recently took place in Korea.

It soon becomes clear that the two cases are connected. Kim Seok announces that the suspect has been identified and that he is Japanese. Tension mounts between the two investigators, each defending his own approach. Kim Shin-rok, as seen in «Hellbound,» brings a touch of mystery to the role of Ri Yoon-ok. With a sly smile, she hints at the existence of a witness, wondering if we might want to know who it is.

The video ends with Kim Seok promising his Japanese counterpart that they will catch the killer together.

Son Suk-ku Reunites with the Director of «D.P.»

Behind the camera, Han Jun-hee makes her return following «D.P.,» the series about Korean Army deserters, and the film «Coin Locker Girl.» For Son Suk-ku, this collaboration feels like a reunion, as he had previously worked with Han Jun-hee on «D.P.».

«The Blue Road» also underscores the growing interest in co-productions between Korea and Japan. Last week, it was reported that Jang Ki-yong was in talks for « Get Out of the Peninsula », another Korean-Japanese project for Prime Video.

«The Blue Road» will be available on Netflix starting November 20, 2026.
