A Japanese mob boss, a South Korean intelligence agent, and a businesswoman willing to help: the investigation by « The Blue Road »is expanding. With just over two weeks to go before its release on Netflix, the series has unveiled new images showing the duo formed by Son Suk-ku and Eita Nagayama, as well as the characters involved in the manhunt for them.

Two investigators, two methods
As a reminder, the series directed by Han Jun-hee («D.P.») follows Two detectives on the trail of a serial killer striking in Korea and Japan. Son Suk-ku plays Kim Seok of the Seoul Metropolitan Police, and Nagayama Eita plays Inose of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police.
The new images show each of them in their element. Kim Seok is leading a briefing in front of his fellow investigators, while Inose is walking the streets of Tokyo to conduct his field research.

Allies… and rivals
Other photos show them finally together, a sign of the bond that will develop as they work on the investigation together. But a scene in a store, where the two men lunge at each other, suggests that their collaboration will be anything but peaceful.

Another image is intriguing: Kim Seok, alone, gun in hand, in the middle of a crowd of soccer fans. A sign that the manhunt won’t go off without a hitch.

A Mafia Godfather in the Shadows
The investigation takes a new turn with the appearance of a formidable character. A business card belonging to Seo Hyun-tae—a powerful figure in the Japanese underworld played by Jung Jae-young—is found in Ri Yoon-ok’s room (Kim Shin-rok).

This businesswoman of Korean descent, who lives in Japan, is actually trying to help Kim Seok. What is this godfather doing in her circle? The footage shows him surrounded by his henchmen, exuding an overwhelming aura.
The secret services are getting involved
One final character further complicates matters. Yoon Soo-kyung, a Korean intelligence agent played by Choi Sung-eun, appears in an interrogation room, putting pressure on Inose.

She’s following the case from a completely different perspective than the two investigators. It remains to be seen what’s motivating her to get involved, and whether her interests truly align with theirs.
«The Blue Road» will be available in its entirety on Netflix on November 20, 2026.
