After « The Price of Confession », Jeon Do-yeon and Park Hae-soo They're set to star together in a new drama, but this time as rivals. tvN confirmed the cast of « The Great Bang Ok Sook » (literal title), a comedy-drama in which a battle over real estate pits residents—who are willing to do anything to preserve the value of their apartments—against a redevelopment specialist who has never known failure.
Scheduled for the first half of 2027, the drama will be directed by Kim Hyung-sik, director of «Under the Queen’s Umbrella,» based on a screenplay by Lee Ki-chul, screenwriter of the film «Escape from Mogadishu.».
At the heart of this story is Bang Ok-sook, played by Jeon Do-yeon. After years of hardship, this woman has finally managed to buy what means much more to her than just a place to live: an apartment with a view of the Han River within the Noble Gold Castle residential complex.
So when a redevelopment project in a neighboring neighborhood begins to threaten real estate prices, she has no intention of standing by and watching the value of her property fluctuate without taking action.
Jeon Do-yeon faces off against a «good-natured gangster» who succeeds in everything he sets out to do
Bang Ok-sook thus became a central figure in the Noble Gold Castle residents' association and led the campaign to stop the project.
But his opponent isn't exactly the type to give up easily.
Park Hae-soo will play the role of Yoon Tae-woong, president of the association in charge of the redevelopment. Described as a «nice gangster» about whom all sorts of rumors circulate, he has, above all, a particularly intimidating track record: 100 %: Success in Its Redevelopment Projects.
When he takes over a project that had been stalled for 10 years and quickly manages to get it back on track, the Noble Gold Castle Residents’ Association finds itself under direct threat.
The drama will therefore pit two sides against each other that seem to operate using almost identical methods. On one side, a residents« association described as having »gangster-like” tactics when it comes to defending real estate prices. On the other, a man portrayed as a genuine gangster who is determined to see the redevelopment through to the end.
This matchup will also mark the reunion of Jeon Do-yeon and Park Hae-soo after «The Price of Confession».
A residents' association that's already causing a stir
However, Bang Ok-sook won't be alone in her fight. tvN has confirmed several actresses who will join her in forming the Noble Gold Castle Residents' Association.
Kim Sun-young will play Lee Ho-young, who will develop a quiet rivalry with Ok-sook, while Kim Geum-soon Yoon Ji-ae, the association's president, will play the role.
Kim Guk-hee will play Oh Ji-hee, a woman who presents herself as an investment expert despite her special talent for… losing money. Woo Jeong-won will play Do Do-hee, who appears somewhat indifferent but turns out to be deeply committed to the organization. Gong Sung-ha will round out the cast as Kim Ye-ri, a social media influencer.
Baek Hyun-jin will play Koo Myung-hwan, a journalist specializing in social issues and the husband of Lee Ho-young. He will also lend his support to the residents' campaign against the redevelopment.
With this cast of characters, «The Great Bang Ok Sook» aims to transform a very concrete issue—the price of an apartment and speculation surrounding real estate projects—into a full-blown turf war.
And in the midst of this war, Jeon Do-yeon will have a particularly simple motivation: after sacrificing so much to get her apartment overlooking the Han River, no one will be allowed to drive down its value without having to deal with her.
