Baek Kang-hyuk fans can breathe a sigh of relief. On October 19, Netflix officially announced that it would be producing Seasons 2 and 3 of « The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call ". Ju Ji-hoon will resume his role as a surgical genius, surrounded by most of the familiar faces from the first season… with one notable change to the team.

Two seasons commissioned at the same time

Ordering two seasons at once is no small matter for Netflix : This is a sign of complete confidence in the series. Set to premiere in early 2025, «The Trauma Code» followed Baek Kang-hyuk, a trauma surgeon as brilliant as he is tyrannical, tasked with saving a trauma unit on the brink of collapse. Its breakneck pace, spectacular emergency scenes, and offbeat humor made it one of the platform’s Korean hits.

The two new seasons will be directed by Lee Do-yoon. He will also write the screenplay for Season 2 on his own. For Season 3, he will be joined by a new screenwriter, Tomasi.

The entire trauma unit team

Ju Ji-hoon returns to the role of Baek Kang-hyuk, a doctor willing to do anything to save his patients, even if it means challenging the hospital hierarchy. This confirmation comes as the actor is also set to appear on November 4 in « The Remarried Empress » on Disney+.".

At his side, Choo Young-woo returns as Yang Jae-won, the young protégé following in his mentor’s footsteps. The mentor-protégé duo—one of the highlights of the first season—will once again take center stage in the plot.

Yoon Kyung-ho reprises the role of Han Yu-rim, director of planning at Hankuk National University Hospital, who is often at odds with Baek Kang-hyuk. Jung Jae-kwang, meanwhile, reprises his role as anesthesiologist Park Gyeong-won.

A New Look for Nurse Cheon Jang-mi

The only casting change: the role of the experienced nurse Cheon Jang-mi will now be played by Jeong Ye-in. She replaces Ha Young, who had announced on his own initiative that he would be stepping down from the upcoming seasons.

This replacement will certainly not go unnoticed, given how much this character—a quiet pillar of the team—was part of the show's DNA.

No filming or release dates have been announced yet. But with two seasons in the works, Baek Kang-hyuk and his team are expected to be on screen for quite some time.
