Lying to your family is never easy. Especially when your sister is a criminal psychologist. In «What a Boss Wants» (« What a Boss Wants » (in French), the new romantic comedy set to premiere on November 11 on Viki, Oh Se-young plays a young woman who is hiding a double life from her loved ones. New images show the family around her, which is sure to complicate things.
An heir with no taste, a secret singer
Adapted from an online novel, the series follows Kwon Do-hyuk (Sung Hoon), a chaebol heir with no sense of taste. He sets out to find the woman whose voice he heard on an album. That voice belongs to Lee Eun-chae (Oh Se-young), a singer in an indie band, who will become the only unexpected twist in his perfectly ordered life. A fake romance blossoms between them—one that risks becoming very real.
As the youngest in the family, Lee Eun-chae is unfailingly optimistic. While searching for a job, she led her father to believe she had landed a position at a major company to avoid his criticism. In reality, every Wednesday, she takes the stage as Soo, the lead singer of the band India Red, to pursue her dream of becoming a singer.
A modern dad… except when it comes to his daughters
Her father, Lee Man-deok, played by Jo Hee-bong, prides himself on being in step with the times. But when it comes to his daughters, he becomes very conservative again. Unlike his eldest daughter, who is studious and well-behaved, his youngest daughter is a constant source of worry for him: one night spent out or a boyfriend issue, and punishment follows. Behind this strictness, however, lies a deep tenderness.
Seo Jin-woo (Lee Choong-joo), the brother-in-law, is a psychiatrist and completely devoted to his wife, his first love. He is also the only one to have discovered Eun-chae’s double life, and he has vowed to keep her secret. A role as a valuable ally… one that forces him to lie to his own wife, at the risk of embarrassing situations.
Because this wife, Lee Eun-seo (Kim Jae-in), is none other than Eun-chae’s older sister—a criminal psychologist as brilliant as she is formidable. Suspicious of a younger sister who can’t clearly explain where she works, she keeps a close eye on her, determined to find proof.
With a father who’s always lecturing, a caring brother-in-law, a meticulous older sister, and a younger sister chasing her dreams, the series promises a family that argues a lot but loves each other even more.
