Jung Yu-mi (정유미) is a South Korean actress born on January 18, 1983, in Busan. She began her career in several short films before gaining recognition for Blossom Again in 2005, and then to Family Ties in 2006. Her performance in that film earned her significant critical acclaim and the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
She then became a regular collaborator with director Hong Sang-soo, appearing in Like You Know It All, Oki's Movie, In Another Country and Our Sunhi. She has also stood out in films spanning a variety of genres, such as Silenced, My Dear Desperado, The Himalayas and Psychokinesis.
In 2016, Jung Yu-mi gained widespread international popularity thanks to the disaster movie Last Train to Busan, in which she plays Sung-kyung, a pregnant woman trying to survive an epidemic aboard a train. She goes on to play the lead role in Kim Ji-young: Born in 1982 In 2019, she starred in an adaptation of a novel about the challenges women face in South Korean society. In 2023, she played Soo-jin in the psychological thriller Sleep, and then plays Seo Hae-ri in Wonderland in 2024. She also makes an appearance in A Medley of Feelings in 2025.
On television, she landed her first major roles in Que Sera, Sera, I Need Romance 2, The Queen of the Office and Discovery of Romance. In 2018, she played police officer Han Jung-oh in Live. Two years later, she played Ahn Eun-young, a nurse with supernatural powers, in The School Nurse Files. In 2024, she returns with a romance Love Your Enemy, in which she plays Yoon Ji-won.
In 2027, Jung Yu-mi is set to star in two new series: Speaking Dead, playing the role of Yeo Su-jeong, and Reobeu Eopeeo, in which she plays Lee Seon-hui.
She is also a popular figure on variety shows, thanks in part to Youn’s Kitchen, Youn's Stay, Seo Jin’s and Jinny's Kitchen. Known for her natural and sensitive acting style, Jung Yu-mi has established herself as a leading actress in both South Korean independent films and mainstream productions.
