It's confirmed! Lee Bo-young and Kang Tae-oh They'll be starring together in a new drama, but their characters already have a good reason not to like each other. ENA confirmed on October 6 that they had been cast in « Divorce Investigator Hong Mal Geum », a legal and family comedy centered on a single mother of three who, after going through a divorce herself, becomes an investigator for the family court.
She will be facing a lawyer played by Kang Tae-oh. And not just any lawyer: She was the one who represented her ex-husband during their divorce and secured a favorable ruling for him.

Lee Bo-young Becomes an Investigator After Her Own Divorce
Lee Bo-young will play Hong Mal-geum, a woman who is no stranger to family conflicts, both professionally and personally. Having grown up in a divorced family herself, she eventually goes through her own divorce and must now raise her three children on her own.
This experience led her to become a trainee investigator at the family court, where she will also be able to draw on her background in psychology.
In the system depicted in the drama, her job is to investigate various cases handled by the family court, ranging from divorces to adoptions and guardianships, not to mention cases involving child abuse. Hong Mal-geum will therefore have to delve into the private lives of families facing sometimes difficult situations, even as she herself bears the scars of her own family history.
Kang Tae-oh defended Lee Bo-young's ex-husband
Kang Tae-oh, for his part, will play the role of Charles Kim, a lawyer with a 100 % win rate.
But behind this impressive track record does not necessarily lie an idealistic champion of justice. Charles places greater importance on money than on the honor or sense of duty traditionally associated with his profession.
Above all, he and Hong Mal-geum already share a particularly bitter past. When she got divorced, Charles Kim was the lawyer for her ex-husband, who was portrayed as the one at fault in their separation. Despite this, the lawyer managed to secure a favorable outcome for his client.
Their professional reunion is therefore unlikely to be a cordial one. With an investigator still reeling from her divorce and the lawyer who contributed to its unfavorable outcome, the drama already has a personal conflict to complement its various family-related storylines.
«Divorce Investigator Hong Mal Geum» will blend comedy, law, and family stories as it follows the cases its heroine encounters in court.

The drama is scheduled to air on ENA during the first half of 2027.
