A surgery no one wanted to perform, a patient whose case was being followed by the entire country, and a troubling detail on a CT scan: Episode 7 of « Doctor X », which airs this Friday, pits Gye Su-jeong against her greatest challenge yet. A perilous operation, performed in front of an audience that has come to watch her succeed… or fail.

A patient whom all surgeons avoided
In Episode 6, Gye Su-jeong (Kim Ji-won) volunteered to operate on Oh Sang-beom, played by Ha Sung-kwang. No surgeon wanted to take on this patient for two reasons: the procedure’s success rate is extremely low, and the case has captured the nation’s attention. Needless to say, failure would have disastrous consequences for the hospital.
But as she examined her scan, Gye Su-jeong noticed something unusual. So much so that she wondered aloud what on earth could have happened «that day.» It’s a mystery that hints at a case far more complex than it appears.
An operation under close surveillance
Footage from Episode 7 shows Gye Su-jeong in the operating room, facing an unusual audience. It’s not just the hospital staff watching—outsiders are also observing the procedure. Despite the literally life-or-death stakes, the surgeon remains perfectly calm. All her focus is concentrated at her fingertips.
The tension around her is palpable. The hospital director, Bu Seung-kwon (Son Hyun-joo), and seasoned doctors with decades of experience hold their breath, unable to look away from the operation. Will she manage to silence the skeptics and save her patient?
The start of the second half
This episode kicks off the second half of the 12-episode series. And «Doctor X» is off to a flying start: Episode 6 achieved a national viewership rating of 19.5 %, a record for the series, placing it fifth among the highest ratings in the history of SBS's Friday and Saturday dramas.
Fans are also looking forward to the next developments in the storyline involving Na Dae-il (Jang Seung-jo), the surgeon who engraved his initials on his patients' organs, and whose Gye Su-jeong discovered the terrible secret. With this kind of momentum, the symbolic 20 % mark has never seemed so close.
Episode 7 of «Doctor X» will air this Friday, October 30, at 9:50 p.m. (Korean time)—which is 1:50 p.m. in France—on SBS, and will be available on Netflix the same day.
