Jang Seung-jo (장승조), born on December 13, 1981, is a South Korean actor who first built his career on the stage and in musicals before making a name for himself in K-dramas. He began appearing on television in the mid-2010s in God’s Quiz 4, Liar Game, Splendid Politics and The Scholar Who Walks the Night.
His career took a major turn with Money Flower in 2017, in which he played Jang Boo-cheon, an heir caught up in a web of power and revenge. He then went on to star in Familiar Wife and Encounter in 2018, and then Chocolate the following year.
In 2020, he landed one of his most memorable roles in The Good Detective. In it, he plays Oh Ji-hyuk, a methodical and reserved detective, a role he reprises in a second season in 2022. In the meantime, he joins Snowdrop as Lee Kang-moo, a determined intelligence agent.
Jang Seung-jo continues with Strangers Again in 2023, a romantic comedy centered on two divorced lawyers forced to work together again. He also appears in Death's Game, before returning to a darker tone with Nothing Revealed and an appearance in The Frog in 2024.
In 2025, he plays a dual role in the Netflix thriller As You Stood By, in which he plays Noh Jin-pyo and Jang Kang, confirming his ease in portraying ambiguous and unsettling characters.
In 2026, he returns to the sageuk My Royal Nemesis, in which he plays Choi Moon-do and King Anjong, and also makes an appearance in Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia.
