Born on July 7, 1980, in Daegu, Choi Young-joon is a South Korean actor and former singer. After making his debut in 2002 as a member of the boy band 7Dayz, he turned to musicals, where he spent more than a decade honing his craft before gaining recognition on television.
His acting career took off in 2019 with Arthdal Chronicles, and then he went on to play a series of memorable roles in Flower of Evil, Hospital Playlist and Vincenzo. Although he often appears in supporting roles, his charismatic presence and natural acting style quickly made him one of the most beloved supporting actors in K-dramas.
In 2022, he delivered a particularly noteworthy performance in Our Blues, in which he plays Bang Ho-sik, a protective father grappling with his son's struggles. The role earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the APAN Star Awards. He continued this momentum with Bloodhounds, Delightfully Deceitful and Gyeongseong Creature, in which he plays the formidable Lieutenant General Kato.
In 2025, he appears in The Price of Confession (The Price of Confession) and also joins the highly anticipated film Omniscient Reader’s. The following year, he returned to the world of Bloodhounds for its second season and is starring in the crime drama Honor. He is also set to headline in 2027 Guns and Talks, while joining the cast of Pig Pen.
